Incarnate

inner desires revealed (Epic Beginnings Challenge)

By Savannah K. WilsonPublished 2 years ago 1 min read

Francis never liked people much, he always lost his temper in queues, when people walked on the incorrect side of the footpath, basically everything people did. He had always disliked people, and as he got older, it grew more and more.

His favourite pastime was placing sticks and rocks on bike tracks and watching kids fall and hurt themselves. Overall he was a nasty man with no love for others in his heart, when he started seeing the growing number of reports about Kismet saving people and being an all-round good person, a feeling grew in Francis.

One day recently, while driving, he saw a cat on the road … and made the conscious choice not to swerve. That day changed him forever, it was like something evil entered him that day. He started wishing actual harm on people. Now when they blocked his path, he fought back the urge to beat and kick them senseless.

He found his strength and power growing, surprised to see a fight in a bar end with him throwing a man through a brick wall as if throwing a ball of paper at a trash can. His nails seemed to grow and retract like claws at will, letting him tear open walls … and people whenever the feeling took hold.

‘I could get used to this,’ he said into the mirror one day. Seeing his eyes, they had become serpent-like and sinister … like the embodiment of evil.

Another news report flashed on the TV; something about an incident at a lab, a mysterious bank robbery, and of course … Kismet.

Francis hissed out loud, his eyes brightly flashing a deep red, black wings of shadow formed out of his back and spread out.

‘Look out Kismet … Incarnate is coming for you …’
