“In the Silence of My Heart”
A quiet story of loving without being seen and finding peace in letting go.

I saw her every day.
From a distance.
Without a sound, without any hope.
She was the center of my universe.
But to her…
I was just another classmate.
Maybe even less.
I knew every detail about her —
The way she tucked her hair behind her ear when she was nervous,
The soft way she said “hi” even when distracted,
And that little smile she gave when she thought no one was watching.
But I was always watching.
We were in the same class.
She talked to everyone, laughed loudly, and lived fully.
And me?
I was just the guy she borrowed a pen from.
So many times I thought of telling her how I felt.
But I couldn’t.
Because even losing the little place I had in her world —
That silent background role —
Felt scarier than never being seen.
She never knew that every time she smiled at me,
My entire day got better.
That every "hey" from her was a heartbeat I held onto for hours.
One evening, something unexpected happened.
She messaged me.
"Hey! You’re really sweet, you know that? Thanks for always being around."
I didn’t know what to say.
I smiled. Then I cried.
Because she’d never know why I was always around.
She’d never know what that message meant to me —
A single drop of rain in a long, dry desert.
Years passed.
We drifted apart.
And then one day, I saw her wedding photos.
She looked beautiful —
Like she’d stepped out of a dream… a dream that was never mine to keep.
A Love That Asked for Nothing ❤️
I didn’t cry this time.
I just closed my eyes and whispered a silent blessing.
Love, I realized, doesn’t need to be returned to be real.
Sometimes, loving someone quietly is its own kind of peace.
A quiet, deep, undying peace.
She never knew.
But I always did.
