We had just arrived on the 75th floor of the Nakimoto Towers, where a handful of executives had been suffering through a long summer and an HVAC issue that had been successfully sabotaged, which created an unbearable environment. Desperate for relief in this corporate sauna, the CEO authorized no expense would be denied.

$5 million in cold cash sat in a safe whose high-tech security was entirely dedicated to the grid that would be greatly impacted when we swapped out the old Water Source Heat Pump. It was essentially an aluminum box loaded with a slew of components including: Copper Refrigerant lines, An Expansion Valve, Compressor, and a complex Circuit Board. All of which had been surreptitiously removed on a previous inspection to confirm the unit was inoperable and to finalize a quote for parts and labor.

Gilbert had 25 years in the business and was a trusted source in the industry of Property Maintenance with 10,000 LinkedIn followers. A massive amount of online trust and he was about to risk it all with a devious plan he felt the rewards were well worth the risk.

He grinned with anticipation as he pulled the breaker and slipped into darkness.
