In Another Life- Chapter 9

Olse and his servant get sent to another room. The woman appeared behind them. Like in a snap of a finger.

“I do not appreciate eavesdroppers.”

The three stood to greet her.

“That was not our intention.” Lissana said.

“Oh? Then I suppose you aren’t curious as to what I can do?”

The woman smiled. She stared at Lady Penny and smiled.

“Come. I’ll read something to you.”

Lissana and Lady Penny looked at each other.

“You can follow or I can alert your enemy.”

They rush to get seated. The woman’s black veil covered her face well. She shuffled some cards. Humming a soothing tune.

“Let’s see…” She whispers.

The cards speak to her. Lissana glanced at Lady Penny. Her friend looked at the woman.

“Can I presume that your ability is foresight?”

The woman chuckled.

“That’s cute. My ability is so much more.”

She laid five cards down.

“It seems like you…” She points at Lissana

“...will have a short life, dark clouds hanging over your heads, but if you are in favor of romance it seems like you will be with the one you truly desire. Of course if you don’t succumb to a very bloodthirsty spirit and a human who’s lost his way and mingled over to the side of the non-living.”

Lissana blinked. She looked at Lady Penny.

“Oh but that is something to not worry about! I am sure that since you have found me, you must have a plan to deal with my customer!”

She cleared her throat. Shuffling new cards.

“Now for you..” Her eyes look at Lady Penny’s.

She hums.

Setting down three cards.

“You…hold all the answers. Your life can either be bright and filled with prosperity or your own actions can be the reason why you fall so low. Unlike your friend, clouds and storms are a good thing for you, as well as having a knight that fears nothing but death.”

Lady Penny makes an o shape with her lips. She glanced at Vince. Standing tall with his sword on his hip.

She looks away, covering her mouth.

“I have many great knights. I am sure of my protection.”

“Hmm a knight is more important than your future?” The woman smiled.

Lissana stifled a giggle as the woman curiously leaned in.

“Or is he going to be a part of that future?”

Lady Penny bolted upwards. The chair screeched as she nervously laughed.

“Oh let’s go.”

The loud noise had alerted the two that were nearby. The servant stepped out and he lingered by the door.

“Sir…sir!”

Lissana pulled Lady Penny back as they headed towards the wall. Olse got a look at Lissana as Lady Penny pulled her and Vince out.

They fall onto the ground outside before quickly getting up and running into the dark streets. Olse and his servant were right behind them.

“Seize them!” He shouted.

They run straight down into a forest. Dark and chilling like no other.

“We have no choice.” Lissana says.

Lady Penny’s eyes widen at the faint whispers coming from every passing tree.

“As long as we make it out alive.” Vince said.

Lady Penny looked back. A shadow moving in between the trees. It's eyes flickered a terrifying dark red.

“I hope.”
