In a moment of peace Lissana and Marzen reunite with everyone. The wyverns in the sky had begun to disperse. A calling that was only meant to last for a few mere moments. Lissana waved to her friend.

“I have returned to you!” She smiled brightly.

Lady Penny smiled, holding the handkerchief to her chest. She nodded. As she walked over to them, numerous spears came their way.

“Hide!” A guard shouts. The sharpness of each spear cut into the thick snow. As Lissana reached for her friend, a spear came into between them.

“We must turn back.” Marzen said. He took his fiancé's hand and ran. A spear gets thrown onto the path in front of them. Lissana gasped, both from shock and how tight Marzen’s grip had gotten. They run faster than they have ever had to do.

“Keep fleeing like rats!” The outcast shouts. Lissana looks back. Not in fear but in pride.

“We’ll make it.” She said,

“Of course we will.” He replied.

They run past a tree. A spear piercing into it. But up ahead was a dead end. A cliff. They look below and there is water.

“This is risky.” Lissana says.

A hand over her heart as she catches her breath.

“It’s one worth having to take.”

To their left multiple outcasts reel their arms back. Preparing to throw their spears. Marzen and Lissana look at one another. They squeeze their hands together and jump. The spears narrowly miss them, one grazing Lissana’s foot. But she does not hiss nor feel the pain. Her eyes stick to the water they’re about to crash into.

Soon as their heads go underwater, for a moment everything goes silent. Nothing seems to be targeting them. Until they rise up for air. From above the outcasts seem to have disappeared. At the very least, from their angle they did.

“Love how are you feeling?” Marzen asked.

“Peachy.” Lissana groans.

Her body felt sore from all that running and jumping into the water definitely made everything hurt.

“And you?” She asked as they swam.

“I’m just glad there is not a scratch on you.” He smiled.

They swim across and get to a forest. They look around soaked, and look back at each other with a smile.

“We’re safe.” Lissana smiled. Her hands cup his cheeks. Stroking her thumb against his stubble.

“That we are.” Marzen smiled. His gaze softened at the sight of her. Smoothing down her black straight hair. He hugs her, gentle yet tight. His embrace felt warm like usual and Lissana didn’t hesitate to wrap her arms around him. Resting her head on his chest. His head on top of hers. They had always fit nicely together.

For a moment all Lissana could hear was his thumping heart. Everything felt so peaceful. Till she heard the sound of something slick. She lightly pulled back and they both looked down. His abdomen had been pierced. Lissana blinked. Her hands tremble at the sight. Blood. It was oozing out dark and fast, staining his clothes.

“M-Marzen!”

He heard the sound of another spear swooshing through the air and he held her waist. Spinning them so that he’d take it. Her mind went blank at the sight. Her fiance stood tall, blood oozing out of his mouth.

He let out a choked deep breath as he fell to his knees. Lissana kneeled as her fingertips shakily brushed against the spear tip. She looked at her hands, his blood had coated her fingertips red. He covered his hand over hers, shaking his head.

“Please don’t.” He whispered.

Her eyes had already watered. She bit her lower lip, trying to not let any spill.

“This was my choice.” He smiled weakly. Brushing his free hand over her cheek. She shook her head, closing her eyes shut.

“We should have run between all those trees. I should have-”

He weakly leaned in, kissing her cheek.

“Don’t blame yourself. Please.” He whispered.

She looked into his eyes. Those dark hypnotizing eyes she’s grown to love. Her eyes drop down to the spears lodged inside him. Even though she knew, it was too late for a doctor. Marzen held her face. Careful to not let his blood touch her cheeks.

“I love you, Lissana. I always have and I always will.”

She lowered her head as he kissed her forehead. She shuts her eyes focusing on his warmth. When she opens them again, her heart skipped a beat from his gentle gaze. His lashes brush against hers as they close their eyes shut, kissing one another for the very last time.

He pulled back, smiling, “In another life, I’d love to be the one you call husband.”

Lissana nods, lying him down on his side, her breath shaky as she smiles.

“In another life, I’d love to be your wife.”

Marzen’s thumb stroked under her eye. Brushing against a fallen lash.

“In another life.” He whispered, as his hand dropped, and the spark in his eyes died down. Lissana choked, as she rested her head on his chest. There was no heartbeat. Just the lingering warmth that would soon grow cold with time. She cried, holding him tightly, she couldn’t bare to let go.

She raised her head as a spear landed by his head. A letter wrapped around the handle. She sniffled as she read, “He who dared to challenge the destined successor will not live to see another day.”

Lissana crumbled the sheet as she glared at the mountains. From there stood men on horses. One in particular wearing a black cloak. She stood up, wiping her tears.

“I will get my revenge!” She screamed. “Don’t you all dare die at the hands of someone else! I Lissana Stellae will find you and when I do, you will wish that today’s tragedy would have never happened!"

The men leave. As if her words were nothing more than a winds howl passing by. But Lissana did not fret. She looked down at her deceased lover and dropped to her knees once more. Brushing her hand over his eyes, allowing them to shut for his eternal rest.

“I promise you won’t wait long dear. I’ll come back to you.” She whispered.
