Half an hour later, She decided to call Clark and confirm if they were still going out together today.

"Hello? Caro?" Clark answered quickly. There was no mistaking that his voice sounded different than usual. There was a hint of nervousness mixed within his tone as well as some concern as he tried to keep the conversation short. "Uh... Hi."

"Why don't you call me?" she asked. "We could talk instead of having a random call through the line."

"Oh.." He hesitated. "I don't know. I just didn't want to worry you."

She sighed and sat back against the couch. "Please don't do that Clark, it's my job to worry about you. You're important to me."

"Well..." he trailed off, obviously not believing her.

"Come on Clark, please."

"Ok," he sighed heavily. "If it makes you feel any better," he said as a fake smile appeared on his face.

"Great! See you in twenty minutes!" she said, hanging up the call.

About an hour later, Caro was already waiting for Clark in his car. She got closer to him and gave him a huge hug. She couldn't help but notice how stiff and awkward his whole body felt. Maybe she shouldn't have insisted on calling him on the phone; but what she wanted to know, and why he suddenly became distant, was something that she needed to ask him.

"Where are we going today?" she asked while putting on her seatbelt.

"Not sure, actually," he shrugged, putting the car in drive. "Let's find out."

Cara smiled happily, leaning back against her seat. "Ok, sounds awesome!"

Clark drove them through the streets until they finally reached a park. They both got out of his car and walked to the park's centre as it was the biggest place around. Clark suggested that they eat lunch before going anywhere. She agreed and the two sat under an old oak tree on the grass near a bench underneath. While they waited for their lunch to arrive, they talked about everything and anything that popped into their minds which happened to be a lot of random things. Eventually, their meal arrived and the two began eating quietly. Caro took big bites of her bread sandwich while Clark finished the rest of his meal.

As she thought, Clark seemed quite quiet as he sat staring at nothing in particular. Then, she noticed something odd. It was his hand. His left hand. "Clark, are you ok?" she asked gently.

His eyes widened upon hearing her voice. His gaze focused on her and he swallowed hard. "Yeah, I'm okay."

"Then are you sick?" she asked worriedly.

Clark slowly shook his head then leaned forward. "No. It's just..." he paused "I need to go take a pee," he said and left hastily forgetting his phone where they were sitting. Immediately he left a message popped into his phone. Caro didn't want to check his phone at first; she was so tempted to. But, after thinking about it for a few moments she realized that she may have to look at it at some point so she gave in to the temptation and picked up Clark's phone to read the message that came in. The message is from a girl whose name is Lisa and it reads: "I just woke up and you are not by my side, you are nowhere to be found in the house. What happened? Where did I go? PLEASE CALL ME!"

Lisa? Who's Lisa? Just woke up? Not by my side? What do all these mean? Does he...? she asked herself as her eyes grew wider and her jaw dropped. She reads the message again and instantly gets mad. After all the shit she has done for him. He must be out of his mind. She threw away his phone angrily and immediately started to cry. Tears were flowing freely and her breath hitched every time a sob escaped from her lips.
