But before she could get any closer to figuring out what was bothering him, he stopped suddenly. Caro stopped walking as well and turned to him. He was still holding onto her hand. She raised her eyebrow questioningly.

"What is it, Clark?" she asked, trying not to sound irritated.

"Can we talk for a minute?" he asked, looking down. She nodded hesitantly and he looked back at her and smiled at her reassuringly. Then he looked around and took a deep breath before whispering into her ear "I like you, Caro."

Her eyes widened and her mouth dropped open. She couldn't believe what she was hearing. She was shocked. She was confused. She wasn't sure how she felt about it. She'd been harbouring these thoughts for some time now. Since she moved here, she was afraid to actually confront her feelings towards Clark. But now that they were here, standing under the trees in the middle of the park, surrounded by people enjoying the beautiful summer day, she knew that he did mean something to her.

Caro smiled shyly and nodded her head, still speechless. Then, without waiting for him to say anything more, she kissed his cheek and told him she liked him too. Then she let go of his hand and ran towards the swings. He watched her run across the grass until she disappeared behind the swing set. He shook his head fondly and chuckled. She was so cute sometimes.

That night, Caro couldn't sleep. She tossed and turned throughout the night thinking about the day. Clark liking her, kissing her and all the things they'd do now that they have confessed how they feel about one another.

When Clark walked through the doors of the high school, he couldn't help but grin. The feeling of happiness he had was stronger than ever. Caro had told him she liked him. He couldn't believe it but she kissed him on the cheek and told him that she liked him too. And she called him cute! All the girls at the high school were crushing on him but she is the only one he has eyes for right now.

As soon as he spotted Caro at the end of the hallway, he started sprinting toward her. He ran past other students and didn't stop until he got to her side.

"Hey Caro," he said, leaning down close to her ear so no one else could hear him.

"Hi Clark," she smiled back at him.

He grinned again. This girl. How could someone be this cute all the time?

"Are you heading to my locker?" he asked as they kept walking down the hall together.

"Um yeah, I guess so," she said.

She unlocked the door to her locker and opened it. Clark waited patiently for her to take her books out. When she finally closed the door, he wrapped his arms around her waist and pulled her close. She tilted her head up to look at him. Their faces were only an inch apart as his warm brown eyes stared down at her. He leaned down slowly and pressed his lips against hers. She gasped softly as he deepened the kiss. They moved their bodies together so tightly that it became difficult to breathe. Clark cupped her face with his palms and deepened the kiss even more. When they parted they both were breathing heavily. Caro felt dizzy and weak in the knees. Her heart was racing and her whole body was buzzing.

"Do you want to go somewhere?" he asked, resting his forehead against hers.

Caro looked into his eyes and nodded enthusiastically. He smiled at her and scooped her up in his arms bridal style. She laughed happily as he carried her down the hallway. Everyone was staring at him. Even though she knew they were only staring at him because they were jealous, she still blushed. They reached his locker and he set her down gently. He took his books from her, gave her a chaste kiss and headed off to class. Caro watched him leave with a bright smile on her face.

Now everyone in school knows they are a couple. A couple which means Caro can hold his hand every time he picks her up from school or kisses her cheek whenever he wants to. He'll even give her piggyback rides sometimes so that she won't fall off. She doesn't care anymore what anyone thinks.
