She hadn't fallen asleep last night.

When she saw her text conversation with Clark, a smile tugged at the corner of her lips. She looked up at her phone.

From: Clark

I'm sorry if I woke you but we have history today. Don't worry, I'll bring something for us to eat. See you at 8:3! Xx

Caro chuckled and rolled over so that her back faced her window. She pulled the duvet over her head and tried to block the sunlight out. Her phone vibrated against the wooden floor, making her jump.

From: Clark

Cara, wake up. We're gonna be late :D Xx

Her phone vibrated again and once more.

From: Clark

Okay, I know you're sleeping but hurry! We can't miss class! xoxo

Once more Caro found herself smiling uncontrollably. It must be a habit she picked up from Clark. If he was that worried about missing school then she probably should get up too.

She threw the duvet off and headed toward her bathroom. She ran hot water in the shower and began washing her body. As she stood under the warm spray, she allowed herself to think about the events of the day. Clark had wanted her to meet up with him at the park after school. She agreed and got ready, pulling her hair into a ponytail. As she was putting her makeup on she heard her phone go off.

From: Clark

I'm outside. Be right over xxx

Caro smiled again and hurriedly put on her makeup.

It wasn't much, just mascara and lipstick. She grabbed her backpack and left her house. On her way to the bus stop she texted Clark back letting him know where she was. He drove by to pick her up for history class first. His face lit up when he saw her and she felt her heart skip a beat. He stood up when he noticed her walking over.

"Hey," he greeted her warmly.

"Hi," she responded softly. When they got to school, they both came down from the car, Clark took her bag from her shoulder and Caro smiled gratefully at him as he led her to class.

Caro's favourite lesson about history was always about the Roman Empire. History was her second favourite subject, and it was because she enjoyed listening to Mr Bruce teach it. He was nice and caring towards the class and always knew exactly when to ask questions that would give them insight into history. Today, Caro decided to sit next to her best friend.

"Hey Lexa," she whispered.

Lexa smiled at her as she sat down.

"Hello Caro," she answered in a gentle voice.

They both smiled at one another. She turned to Clark who was sitting beside her pressing his finger against his temple in concentration.

"Hey," Caro murmured, turning to look at him.

He met her gaze and flashed her a quick smile. His eyes were full of excitement but also a hint of nervousness. She wondered briefly what he wanted to discuss with her.

They separately attended their remaining classes after the history class ended. After school, Clark and Caro met at the park as agreed where Caro hoped Clark would confess his true feelings for her.

The weather was hot and sweaty as Caro and Clark walked hand in hand to the park, holding hands while chatting about everything and nothing.

"I can't believe we only have three more weeks of classes," Clark remarked.

"Yeah, me neither!"

They continued to walk for a while and Caro began to wonder what it was that Clark wanted to talk about. Maybe he's finally realised that he likes me, she thought hopefully.
