How I Feel About The Kids in Boruto: Team 7 Edition

Naruto: Next Generations *Potential Spoilers Ahead*

Please note that again this is my opinion.

I think it goes without saying that Naruto is one of the big 3 in anime, one of the most iconic mainstream animes out there and we can see aspects of Naruto in many anime that came afterward. That being said, it is therefore understandable that I, as I'm sure many other fans were overjoyed when the announcement of Boruto: Naruto Next Generation getting animated came out.

I waited with baited breath to see which characters coupled up and what their kids would be like. Obviously some couples, like Naruto and Hinata and Sasuke and Sakura were apparent from before but I was excited to see what their children would be like.

So far I expect great things from Sarada, she has the sharingan and a large amount of chakra thanks to her Uchiha blood. She also has the monster strength her mother Sakura is known for as well as potentially getting the 100 healings which would significantly aid her ability to use the sharingan by preventing her from going blind from continuous use. Not to mention I did see a possible spoiler about her unlocking the mangekyou and what that would look like so I am looking forward to seeing that but not really since we all know what "conditions" need to be met in order to unlock that.

It has been shown in the anime in a filler episode that Sarada does not have the chakra control needed to be a great healer. This will also impede her ability to achieve the byakygou seal which is 100 healings. Hopefully this changes as I think this addition to her arsenal would be amazing. Sarada is very smart, focused and has shown great leadership skills, I believe she will achieve her goal of becoming the Hokage which would make her the first Uchiha to reach this title. That being said both her father, Sasuke, and her grandfather Fugaku had the non official title of shadow Hokage.

Moving onto Boruto. I have heard that Boruto is supposed to be everything that Naruto could have been e.g with loving parents and great intelligence, without a tailed beast giving him access to monstrous levels of chakra and basically without an overall chip on his shoulders. Boruto has significantly less chakra than his father but he is a very bright ninja, quickly learning and creating new techniques such as his 'Vanishing Rasengan". I will admit that at first Boruto annoyed me, like do you not know who your dad is? What he has been through? Then I realised there is a great level of censorship in the Hidden Leaf education system but that is another story.

Boruto has shown progression as a character and this is due to various factors, his defeats, disgraces and general competitiveness to name a few. I think coming face to face with his own mortality multiple times is the main reason, especially now he has come to understand the full gravity of his situation with the karma mark. Having to consciously remain in control of oneself for fear of the repercussions, this is something that Boruto now has to experience because of the Otsutsuki and in a way allows him to further understand what Naruto went through when he was around the same age. Unfortunately, the object of Boruto's issue cannot be befriended or reasoned with as Boruto's destruction is what it needs in order to fulfil its goals.

Mitsuki is an artificial life form created by Orochimaru and is my personal favourite member of the new team 7. I have only watched the anime and therefore do not know whose DNA Orochimaru used other than his own to create Mitsuki. However, given the fact that Mitsuki achieved "White Snake Sage" means that his other parent must have been very strong physically or had a lot of chakra. This is because Orochimaru himself tried and failed to become this sage due to him not being strong enough and as a result he became a giant snake as shown below.

Mitsuki's reference to Boruto as being his "sun" is incredibly important to trying to understand him at the beginning. As when Mitsuki first meets and befriends Boruto he seems to almost be a dutiful servant with no real will of his own. In a flash back we see Orochimaru simulating a battle with Mitsuki as his aid and an older version of Mitsuki as the opponent. This is run several times unbeknownst to Mitsuki whose memory is erased after every time. To him the battle and following revelation is genuine and this is intentional on Orochimarus' part as he wants to get a specifi reaction out of Mitsuki, further demonstrating how he is at first just an experiment, a vessel for someone else's will.

As the show continues though, we can see Mitsuki's character development and I think he's shown the most so far out of his team as there is a whole arc about him meeting other artificial life forms in the Hidden Stone. This was undoubtedly a significant time for him as he was able to really relate to people for the first time, I mean how often would you run into other artificial people. This experience, as well as others that are shown through several filler episodes, help shape Mitsukis' personality and help him really become his own person.

Overall, I have a lot of faith in the new team 7 and can't wait to see how they advance. There have been whispers of a time skip to come, similar to that of Naruto Shippuden where we see how they've matured. I try to stay away from the spoilers of manga readers but if what I've heard is true then we are in for a very emotional ride.

I will be writing about the other teams in Boruto so keep checking in, your view mean a lot :)
