“Sam, I can’t seem to grasp the text language of our son, Branden. He sends me text messages that make absolutely no sense to me whatsoever,” Amy whines.

“Honey, you’ll pick up the kids jargon, don’t stress. What’s the abbreviation you’re stuck on?” Sam asks.

“Here is a perfect example. Branden’s text reads, Mum the TV won’t turn on and IDK why. Silly nonsense if you ask me.”

Sam gives a chuckle, “I don’t know.”

“Then I’ll ask our daughter, she’ll know,” Amy states.

Sam bursts out in hysterical laughter. “No Amy, I DON’T KNOW, is the definition of IDK.”

Wikipedia defines a drabble as follows :

A drabble is a short work of fiction of precisely one hundred words in length. The purpose of the drabble is brevity, testing the author's ability to express interesting and meaningful ideas in a confined space.

About the Creator

Colleen Millsteed

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
