"Gyeongseong Creature" includes a stellar cast led by Park Seo-jun, Wi Ha-joon, Han So-hee, Kim Hae-sook, Jo Han-chul, and Claudia Kim. The narrative unfolds in the spring of 1945, during the time of World War II, focusing on the Gyeongseong area (modern-day Seoul). The storyline revolves around the mysterious Ongseong Hospital, controlled by the Japanese Army, as various characters, including an entrepreneur and a sleuth, investigate the disappearance of people who have been kidnapped or forced into serving the Imperial Japanese Army.

The protagonist, Jang Tae-sang (played by Park Seo-joon), is introduced as the wealthiest man in Gyeongsaeng, embroiled in a mission to find a missing person. His path crosses with the enigmatic Yoon Chae-ok (played by Han So-hee), who is on a quest to find her long-lost mother. Despite their differences, they decide to collaborate. The series takes a dark turn as it unveils the inhumane experiments conducted by the Imperial Army in Ongseong Hospital, turning humans into grotesque creatures in the name of "science."

As the narrative progresses, themes of betrayal, chemistry between characters, corruption, violence, and gore unfold. The focus shifts from rescuing individuals to dismantling the Army's inhumane operations. The will to survive remains a constant, even as lead characters face heartbreaking deaths. Tae-sang's new mission becomes the rescue of Chae-ok, with obstacles and hurdles introduced by unexpected characters.

The series maintains attention to historical accuracy, evident in the meticulous cinematography by Song Yo-hun. The use of cameras to depict disturbing visuals and the monstrous creature is commendable, with well-executed action scenes intensifying the storyline. The standout feature is the impressive use of VFX, enhancing the realistic appearance of the creature and conveying its emotions and instincts effectively. Editor Jo In-hyung's artistic vision contributes significantly to the overall quality, although a few scenes could be deemed extraneous.

Kang Eun-kyung's writing allows the narrative to unfold gradually, avoiding rushed transitions between past and present or abrupt shifts in storylines. The attention to detail extends to the authentic 1940s appearance of the characters, complemented by thoughtful costume design.

In summary, "Gyeongseong Creature" stands out as a must-watch due to its well-rounded production, from compelling storytelling and exceptional cinematography to impactful VFX and attention to historical accuracy.
