“You celebrate Mother’s Day as if your mom is still present in your life,”
Jenny said to Emily while enjoying lunch at their favorite restaurant.
“Who says she isn’t here?” Emily asked sipping grape juice.
“I heard about how she died,” Jenny informs. “And we both know where she is right now.”
Emily smiled, putting her half-empty glass beside her plate, then shared, “She is never absent either. So, she is both.”
“How?” Jenny quests.
Nodding in a mixture of happiness and a tinge of regret, Emily enlightens, “She gave me one of her kidney’s before she died!”

Love this Annelise. Great job on the microfiction. A fun challenge, I thought.
