Kara excitedly flung open the door to her home looked up from her phone and shouted, "Hey, Sean! Guess what? We’re going on a date to that new dumpling place with Jessica and Peter, tonight. It’s going to be so fun!"

Sam raised an eyebrow, "Peter?... oh, right Peter.”

"Yes Peter, her boyfriend. How can you just forget who your friend Peter is?” Kara snorted.

Sean squinted his eyes, "He's not really a 'friend' of mine. We just talk about random things like weather and steak when we happen to be at the same place. I wouldn’t consider someone I talk about the weather with as a 'friend'."

Kara rolled her eyes, "Come on! You’ve hung out with him multiple times now. You two laugh and chat at parties. That makes him our friend."

"That doesn't make us friends. We've never hung out alone. I don’t even have his phone number," Sean countered. "There’s a big difference between someone you're friendly with at events and an actual friend."

Kara sighed, "Whatever, we’re going, with Jessica and your non-friend acquaintance guy.”

Sean pondered for a second. "How about... a 'fracquaintend'? A friend-acquaintance hybrid. We're more than strangers but less than bros."

Kara chuckled, "Fracquaintend? Really?"

Sean shrugged and grinned, "What? It's accurate!"

Shaking her head with amusement, Kara said, "Alright, fracquaintend it is. But you're still going on that double date!"
