Foolish Gold

Nobody wins

By Mia CameronPublished about a year ago 1 min read

Bang! Aggy woke up to a glass being scattered all around her; two men struggling with each other in the darkness. For a minute she didn't realise where she was, she didn't recognise her own bed.

A breeze could be felt on her face, she looked up, there were no windows left, light fabric and papers started flying around her, she reached out to switch on the light... wine spilled.

- What the....?! - her husband's voice sobered her up, whilst she still struggled to see in the sudden brightness of the room.

Swish! She recognized the sound of a silencer and heard her husband dropping dead on the floor. She froze.

The man twisted her arm and showed her the key with its chain hanging, blood dripping.

- Where is it? - he asked.

She pointed to the large painting on the wall.

He tore it off and got the safe opened in seconds, the gold ingots inside made him ecstatic, he started to laugh and picked one up.

He turned around just in time to see the gun pointing at him, his immediate reaction was to fire his, fast.

Three bodies and gold unclaimed, waiting.
