First Contact
Vocal Community Microfiction Series - Humans
Anxious murmurs filled the Council.
"How long until contact?" G'zook called out.
"1 minute, 52 seconds, 760 milliseconds!"
"Dammit." G'zook rippled with agitation. "Get Commander Blech in here!"
"Yes, Your Grace!"
"Hey now, why are we rushing to engage?" Eyestalks swivelled in the direction of the speaker.
"Perhaps they're friendly-"
"Friendly?!" G'zook slapped the table. "These creatures attempted self-annihilation three times and survived! But that's not the worst of it..."
The crowd held a collective breath.
"They have two eyes!"
As the Council spiraled into chaos Space XXII touched down on Mars.

XD what a delightfully amusing story
Haha. This is great. Congrats on the TS
Oh, the drive for Sameness! A human characteristic that has been applied to this space being.
Very good article
I was wondering if the natives have two eyes, one for each eyestalk, or do they only have one eyestalk with one eye on it? I know that as humans we're pretty terrifying since we have forward front facing eyes. We much more of a threat to other creatures, since we've developed this trait. If You ever go walking down a street and spot a squirrel, chipmunk, or rabbit, they may freeze if You walk past or even stand still. They'll only bolt if You turn and stare at them. It's a huge sign of intimidation. Plus, with two eyes we have immense depth perception. Makes me wonder how dangerous another species would be if they had more than two eyes and their specialty was launching projectiles such as a bodily fluid. Great, now I'm thinking about the bombardier beetle cause a lot of insects have compound eyes.
