There weren't always dragons in the Valley. She knew her arrival marked the dawning of a new era for this kind. She was here because the last city she loved had burned down.
Not because she had started it… necessarily. Who knew what one ember set ablaze even a decade ago...under some rubble, Some combination of vile and kicked up ashes might set ablaze and a whole City, MIGHT Burn for a while; the people fighting over causes that were hers.
Her whole being poured into maintaining the cause, though she tried to move out of the way and let the younger Kind work their magic. (After all, she had long since hit Empty) she felt a weakness. Her ability to speak fire, almost dissipated completely for lack of reciprocal energy. But this was a private pain. One almost NO human could understand. Especially not here. Not alone and vulnerable, in this Unknown Valley.
Even injured and tired, when her city started to burn and she knew the culprit and knew the cause, on some Ancient Level she had felt called to help those in the battle, as healers of her Kind do.
But where she was from, her Kind was something of a delicate normality. When you've squashed about three hundred thousand plus of these types of animals together in such a small place and then give it false borders…the population density alone makes it so that Her kind barely got noticed.
Unless you got too close. Or looked in juuust wrong. Then she might Spark. And sometimes, that was fun! But she got burned this way a lot herself. Not by others of her Kind, necessarily. But the ones that hurt the worst were the normals. Those she thought might be OK to show her real light to, and the way they seemed ready.
But people. These fucking Pesky Humans. They get in the way every time. She's either found herself hopelessly enamored by one of them, or misunderstood to the point that she's been ensnared with the false promises of an ego unchecked in the form of a Man.
And then SHE speaks up and her fire shows. And it becomes clear that he typically understands human affairs better than her.
Then they call her….
Untrustworthy.
… the others in life are quick to smell her kind when vulnerable. It's a nectar. The wounds of her heart, soothe others as she speaks her vulnerability openly. And it makes them soothed. Lulled.
She will always be feared
…burn burn buuuurrrnn- inng so HOT that people watched as she stood there. Naked. Vulnerable. In need. And they came close. They bathed in her grace and light and warmth for a while; she always enjoys giving. So she gave to them, and when they were warmed enough and came more fully to their senses, they asked themselves, ‘What Sorcery??! She seduced Me! She Was Such a Temptress.’
All the while, they continued to look at her. Helping herself as best she was able. Healing herself and hurting herself on a seemingly never ending cycle. They were exhausted at her continued need and upkeep and yet praised her for her warmth, and generosity.
Her heart sank lower and slowed, slower.
And then, they left. And they Called her,
..depleted. Unlovable. Washed up and forsaken. They retold her tale as: Miserable Fire Breathing Dragon from hell. That Awful Being.
When she could speak to the fires of their heart as no other.
She was left in the rain to remember.
"I came to them, in need. And I opened my doors. They ate from my table, drank from my cups, and left me. Because my warmth wooed them, and made them question what THEY Knew."
She sighed. WHHHISSSHHHSAAAAA!!! she smiled, A Small spark shot into the sky, 'woops' she chuckled and thought to herself,
Ah well. The warmth is on Me. The coldness when it dissipates… is on them.
Wooo, Still She cried, out alone. WoopwooopwoooooWOooo!!! To herself, in the company of the quiet and the other creatures she keeps, or finds, or procures for her tastes…
Alone in her New Valley. She hoped they were getting used to her. She did enjoy most of the humans she was forced to interact with from these parts. And in fact, she had to maintain some human beings' favor. She was hard pressed to make it through the winter without some borrowed warmth. She was an oddity which required the warmth of others as she was built in a place she had not been built for.
The Humans she kept nowadays were primarily for finances, for trade, for the knowledge and skills it takes to maintain life. Partnerships that make it work. Because mastery of nothing is almost as sinful out here in the Valley as being unskilled in general skills.
She stuck out a bit. Not many came to the Valley in general, but she stuck out a bit anyhow. The same sex variety from these parts arent always familiar with her Kind. The Valley has its draws but it's green nature was generally generic, especially from whence this Lady DragonFire came. And even so, if outsiders came at all, not many stuck out like her, especially if she tried to blend in.
Unfortunately, she knew that even though she was tired and a quiet, hermitted DragonFire speaker, when she arrived, she made a wave. Her kind could feel it deep in the oceans. When her kind makes moves, others move, too. It awakens some that never knew they could speak in her ways. And it sometimes frightens them. Sending sparks and shocks through the atmosphere.
She licks another wound, letting her power soothe her, calm for a moment.
Her every thought a damn time bomb, she must be gentle, and speak with ease. Even to herself.. Especially to herself.
She did her best to bring both awareness, and reverence to her words. If she knew anything, especially now… when healing actively…just how dangerous it could be for others. Those attracted to the light. Some welcome, some simply seeking a little nectar from her worldly wounds. It was for their safety that she held onto the distance. And kept minding her own space. She knew, and loved them so much. And her unbeknownst prey? The innocent fools set ablaze like moths to flame.
Her spark could accidentally set off a misfire, and accidents happen. Especially when Human is not her first language. It's too attached to outcome for her Kind. She has seen with her own eyes and felt with her own being, the importance of maintaining a safe distance from those unprepared. And every time that she has watched them stumble, she's offered help. But they refuse. She may as well have burned each carefully procured and cared for bridge after bridge. She was blamed. So what did it matter anyway?
Knowing that her path was better each time she got out of there alive was not enough.
Until now, she had not fully realized…her effect.
As She stands and Stretches, She Moves Mountains. She shakes the places she walks up to, by the Earth. They'll always say they want more of her - that they're Ready.
But when she arrives, water first, then air, and fire. More and More they cry and ask for mercy. And when she gives it, they say she is a witch. An agent with a Force. She must contain Evils.
Normal looking, but flawed and full of human traits, an ample amount of assuredness, that she knows what she's seen. Then they look at her, and see their own light, reflected. And they run. And tell the others to come along, too.
*pppssssshhhjjjjhhaaaaaaHaaaaa*** she breathes out a huge flame having found her hidden Rage.
It rises out of ages of quieted furies….
And with her remaining massive power of voice and fear asks, again, "CAN YOU FUCKING HEAR ME, Please? Take it easy on me. This is Not my Home! I’m not from here.
I'm out here, because I needed space. I wanted away. I wanted peace from this Valley. Peace. right here. Immediately. "
And she weeps. She breaks down sobbing uncontrollably.
"Their own fears, lulled by my vulnerability, beckoned at my Cry, and they forgot my kindness… is NOT weakness. And in my Pain, my forgone weakness was never theirs to take care of. The healing, the growth of this is in reminding my Self, my Inner God that I am enough. I AM.
And she weeps
“LORD, Guardians, Dragon Mother beyond Time and Space!” She pleads, while she is awake tending to her wounds in the wee hours. She prays. Something of a ritualized practice, but this time with more urgency and fervor.
“Lord of ALL GUIDES? Please, let them rest peacefully, and continue to heal anyway… Over There.”
“Maybe there won't always be Dragons in this Valley,” she sighs, as she walks the perimeters and inner paths of her small plot of land. Her Queendom. It rains and she breathes a soothing sigh as it cools her. She heals more freely at night, her light less obvious to the hungry predators of the day. The vampires who have built their immunity cloaks and instead of sucking your neck, like a gentleness might that it woo her. The Vampires exist during the day, out here. The benefit of this valley is that the city she came from, they were slightly more difficult to keep at bay. In the sameway she missed her Kind, this thought of the distance from That kind, was at times the most soothing part of her Queendom. No Trespassing.
She let her light out to heal herself, and with foolishness and hope in her ever bleeding heart, she still allows others, to sometimes, truly see her spark. After this, she feels safe enough again to Speak her tongue- The Dragon’s misunderstood tongue, slowed down.
Resting now, back in her cave, she feels as though she could slip away.
mmm melt into the land.
“ Woooo! OOOO!!!” She cries out triumphantly, this time appropriately throwing only a small spark. She lies down quietly now … naked in her truth, with the earth.
Perhaps the rain could actually wash her away…
