One of my favorite features on Vocal Media is following the challenges and reading the stories of participants and winners.

Resources provided by participants are gems. Therefore, I’d like to create visibility on Medium to inspire and motivate writers to participate in these challenges.

Previously I introduced numerous challenges. In this post, I introduce a new challenge for fiction writers. It is called “reset your password.”

So, you can write a story expressing your feelings, such as frustration, redemption, or excitement coming from changing your passwords.

Considering we have so many apps and sites requiring passwords, it can be a daunting task for many, especially if you are not a tech-savvy person.

There are even apps that manage your password, which also requires a password. You got my point.

You might also elaborate your story by adding plots like a broken computer, a stolen identity, and dealing with hackers demanding ransoms. or trolls who try to make your life miserable.

The Prompt by Vocal

Write a fiction story that includes the phrase: “reset your password”.

The vocal team prompts that:

“The tedious and seemingly dull act of changing one’s password can bring with it a kaleidoscope of emotions — ranging from feelings of frustration to redemption, and perhaps even a rush of adrenaline.

Whether the change in your story is brought about by a broken computer, stolen identity, safe heist, or scorned lover, let’s embrace the new year by figuratively resetting your password.”

Mandatory Requirements for Eligibility

Your story must be between 600–5,000 words.

It must include the phrase “reset your password”.

You need to submit your story by Jan 17, 2023 3:59 PM AEDT.

The second winner will get $250.

And the third ten winners will get $25 per person.

My Plans for Fiction Writing

Since my childhood, I have read lots of fiction books, including short stories and novels. They helped me enhance my imagination.

One of my favorite genres is science fiction. I enjoy reading fiction but haven’t tried writing fiction yet. It is my next goal.

Currently, my focus is on creative non-fiction, which lays the foundation for me. I plan to write fiction pieces next year after completing some short courses to learn methods and techniques.

Importance of Writing Challenges

If you are into fiction, this is an excellent opportunity for you.

Like many writers, I enjoy writing challenges on Medium. They are created by publications and individual writers to create vitality and collaboration.

Writing challenges inspire and motivate me to write more and read more. So as a writer and reader, I enjoy these challenges and follow them.

I also read the winners’ stories on Vocal Media. Most of them are great.

A few months ago, I started writing on Vocal Media and enjoyed the platform very much. Vocal Media gave me a $10 bonus for joining the Vocal+ program, paying an annual fee. More importantly, they gave me a 10% discount for paying annually. It is an excellent incentive for beginners.

In my first month, I submitted ten posts and received a $10 bonus. In addition, a kind person sent me a $5 tip. I am grateful. which nicely surprised me.

In my third month, I submitted 50 stories, and the day after, Vocal paid me $50. My next goal is 100, but I heard that Vocal does not pay after 50 stories. So there will be no bonus.

Vocal Media also pays generous bonuses to writers. In addition, as a writer, you can monetize your content. But earning income from stories on Vocal Media is challenging unless you have a big audience in social media or a large mailing list.

For me repurposing my content between Medium and Vocal Media is valuable. You can earn income from both platforms with minimal time investment. In addition, your stories can reach different audiences.

I wish you good luck in this challenge. Please contact me if you win this challenge so that I can promote your stories on my social.

Thank you for reading my post.
