Fear of War

A short journey of a boy

By Siapa ajaPublished 15 days ago 2 min read

Once upon a time, in a quaint little town nestled between rolling hills and whispering trees, there lived a boy named Timmy. Timmy was just like any other kid in many ways — he loved to play, explore, and dream of adventures. But there was one thing that set him apart: he had a deep-seated fear of war.

Now, you might wonder why a kid living in a peaceful town would be afraid of something so big and seemingly far away. But for Timmy, the fear of war wasn't just an abstract concept; it felt real, like a shadow lurking just around the corner, ready to engulf everything he held dear.

Every night, as the sky turned from a vibrant blue to a deep, velvety black, Timmy would lie awake in his bed, listening to the familiar sounds of his old house: the creaks of the floorboards, the gentle rustle of the curtains in the breeze. But underneath it all, there was always a nagging sense of unease, a feeling that something terrible was looming on the horizon.

His parents would often come in and sit with him, soothing him with soft words and gentle touches, assuring him that everything was okay, that there was no war coming to their peaceful town. But no matter how hard they tried to convince him, Timmy couldn't shake the feeling of dread that gripped his heart like a vice.

One day, while playing in the park with his friends, Timmy heard a loud bang in the distance. His heart skipped a beat, and he froze, his mind racing with thoughts of invasion, destruction, and chaos. His friends, oblivious to his inner turmoil, continued to laugh and play, but Timmy couldn't shake the feeling of impending doom.

Slowly, cautiously, he approached the source of the noise, his heart pounding in his chest. And then, he saw them: a group of kids setting off fireworks for a summer festival, their faces illuminated by the colorful bursts of light against the night sky. Relief flooded through Timmy like a warm wave, and he laughed at himself for being so scared.

But even as he joined in the festivities, a small voice in the back of his mind reminded him that not all loud noises were harmless fireworks, and not all threats were as easily dispelled. The world outside their little town was a big, unpredictable place, full of dangers and uncertainties that Timmy couldn't control.

As Timmy grew older, his fear of war never completely went away, but he learned to cope with it. He threw himself into his studies, his hobbies, and his friendships, seeking solace and distraction in the simple joys of everyday life. He surrounded himself with people who loved him and supported him, finding comfort in their warmth and understanding.

And though the world outside might still be filled with darkness and uncertainty, Timmy knew that as long as he had hope in his heart and the love of those around him, he could face whatever challenges came his way. For in the end, it wasn't the fear of war that defined him, but the strength and resilience with which he faced it, one day at a time.
