Elissa woke to the startling sound of her alarm clock. Getting out of bed, making her way to the bathroom to brush her teeth. Glancing at her face in the mirror, blood caked her reflection, something towered over her in the mirror. No amount of rubbing her eyes made it pass. A serrated-edge knife loomed menacingly. Fumbling for the light switch, which didn't exist, only lead to solidifying uncontrolled thoughts. Beads of sweat ran over her trembling body. As if solicitude reigned just for that minute, it vanished. The mirror clearing. Suddenly, waking, startled, it was all just a dream.

Tearful Memories From Our Past
Jenny opened the old photo album and felt a pang in her chest. There they were, smiling and laughing, unaware of the future. She traced their faces with her fingers, wishing she could go back to those days. She remembered the sound of his voice, the warmth of his hug, the sparkle in his eyes. She missed him so much. How could he leave her so suddenly? How could he break his promise to grow old with her? She closed the album and wiped away a tear. Memories were all she had left, and they hurt like hell.

The portal had betrayed him once again. But this time, Professor Gregory Reyvannes was fortunate enough to find himself near a beach rather than a pit of quicksand. With a sigh of frustration, he waded out of the azure waters onto the soft sands of a glowing island. "You can't escape me," he muttered, shaking the water from his coat.
