Faedaze: the daydream-like state of one whom the fae has touched

Daisy leaned back against the wall of the window bench, the dress she was embroidering on falling to her lap, all but forgotten. Her gaze rested on the trees just beyond the edge of her garden, watching with dreamlike expression on her face, waiting for something others doubted would ever come.

She'd been like this since the night of the Full Moon, unfocused and constantly lost in a dream world. She'd left her friend's house at dusk seeming perfectly normal and then not returned to her own doorstep until dawn, lost in this starry-eyed daze.

No one would believe her if she told them what had happened. How she had met a stranger on the road - the most beautiful person she had ever seen - and how they had charmed her into joining them for a moonlit dance among the trees. How she had lost all sense of time until the sun had begun to rise, and how even then she had not wished to return home. How in just one long, magical night her heart had been completely stolen by someone no mortal village boy could ever hope to compare to.

So, she said nothing. She simply sat and watched the woods, waiting for the next time her otherworldly paramour would come to take her away. And hoping they wouldn't send her back again.

A/N: I initially wrote this for a Vocal challenge last year and then let it sit in my drafts for months. Now seems like as good a time as any to publish it!

Why do I want to be in a faedaze? It doesn't sound very functional!

There is something truly terrifying about discovering the extraordinary in the midst of an ordinary life. This is very good. I think it merits a longer and more developed storyline,
