ESCAPE OF THE GREEN ANTS

Giants turn Green Ants into cheese.

Deep in the Rain-forest there is a big nest that has a Queen and many helpers that look after her and the little baby ants.

They are not like other ants for these are very special Green Ants, all of these ants keep the forest clean especially where there home is. Some collect food and others stand on look out duty, making sure no harm can get them.

Oh the nest is so busy with ants coming and going, then one day two huge giants came and sucked up a whole nest of ants. Suddenly, the lookout ants hurried to their neighboring green ant's homes, telling them to all hide from the giants. No ant knew why they were being taken or where they were going, some of the ants wanted to declare war on the giants but others wanted to move somewhere else.

Couple of days later the Giants returned and started sucking the ants out of their nests, a meeting was called as soon as it was safe after the giants had gone. At the meeting the Green Ants had a plan that would warn the others when danger came back again. It was decided that they would use their Green belly to make it glow a bright green glow in the dark, that way they could get everyone out of all the nests in time before the Giants could get them.

One of the giants tripped over inside where they worked and the glass jar that had many Green Ants inside, fell and broke. The big escape was on, the ants ran so fast all over the place, the giants just couldn't catch them.

Some found themselves in a special room where they saw the ants that had been taken. Oh! What have they done to them? Some were turned into cheese and other were stuck in chocolate. It was terrible to see their friends in trouble and there was nothing they could do to save them. With what they saw, they needed to find their way back to their home nest. It was urgent and the ants just couldn't work out which way was home. Once outside most of them stuck together and formed an army just in case they had to defend themselves.

Outside they came across a big Black Ant who in the past wanted to fight the Green Ants as they were desperate to go home, they put on a brave face and asked the Black Ant if he remembers where they lived. Oh! that Black Ant was amazed at their bravery. He asked them "How come you are lost and why are you here?" One of the Little Green Ants told him about the Giant and what had happened. "The Giants are sucking up our colonies and making cheese plus chocolate out of us, please can you get someone to help us get home?"

That Black Ant agreed to help them and joined their army because he thought that the Giants might turn all the Black Ants into Liquorice or even worse.

So together they set out on their journey back home, as they marched more Black Ants joined the army. Suddenly they came across an ant that was on fire, "Why is that ant on fire?" asked a Little Green Ant. "Well we know them as the Fire Ants and it really best to stay away from them, you wouldn't want them to burn you?" he said.

The little Green Ant said to the Fire Ant "Hello Fire can I tell you something, then you might want to join our army in the forest." "Ha ha a army now that is funny, I'm an army on my own, ha ha". "I wouldn't laugh if I was you because just maybe these Giants could make a hot dish out of you, you see they have been kidnapping the Green Ants to make cheese and chocolate".

"No kidding are you serious?" said the Fire Ant. "Well I wouldn't say so if I wasn't serious, now are you going to help those poor Little Green Ants?" said the Black Ant.

"Okay sorry, yes of course I will help and join your army!" the Fire Ant said feeling rather stupid for laughing. Now up in a tree was a little Bee and he heard everything and as the Giants had stolen some of his own friends and family. The little Bee flew down to them all and said to them "Look I know about the Giants and I know where the Little Green Ants live, so I am offering to help you." The Little Green Ants asked "How can you help? we really need to warn everyone!"

Now the Little Bee said "I could fly and warn them and tell them to light a beacon in the night so you can find your way home". The Little Green Ant was surprised and said "Really you would do that for us?" "YES" I shall leave right now". The Little Bee answered. So off he flew.

It wasn't to long before he found the Little Green Ants and flew down to the ground calling out to them. He was worried he might get attacked and he told them he has come with a message from the Little Green Ants that had escaped from the Giants. "I've been told to tell you to light a beacon when it's dark, so they can find their way back to you". He said. Now the Little Green Ants told the Little Bee that they had been practicing the Glow in their bellies, just as well they had practiced to get the glow right.

Night time fell and it was time to make a Glowing Green Light that would shine as a beacon in the dark. Hundreds of Little Green Ants got together and created the Biggest Glowing Green Light, it shone high over the forest trees. It wasn't long before that Glowing Green Light was guiding the escapees and the Black Ants together with other Fire Ants marching together as friends rather than enemies. The Little Green Ants was welcomed home by the others and so were their new friends that will forever be joined as an army to ward off danger from the Giants.
