The outside world was unknown to her, but she could see a glimpse of it through the window in his room. She had always been curious about what lay beyond the walls of the mansion, but her father had always kept her locked away, safe from the dangers he said lurked outside.

Mark had always been her only source of information about the outside world, and she cherished the moments when he would sneak up to her room and tell her stories about his adventures beyond the mansion's gates. But as the door slowly closed, sealing off the outside world, Mark couldn't help but feel a sense of dread wash over him.

He had always been afraid of being trapped, and now it seemed that his worst fear was coming true. He tried to push against the door, but it wouldn't budge. He was trapped, alone, in the darkness.

As the days passed, Sarah grew increasingly worried about Mark. He had always been strong and resourceful, but the longer they were trapped, the more he seemed to withdraw into himself. She tried to comfort him, to remind him that they would find a way out, but he just stared blankly at the walls, as if he had given up hope.

Sarah refused to give up, though. She knew that there had to be a way out, and she was determined to find it. She searched every inch of the room, looking for any clues or hidden passageways that might lead to freedom. But as the days turned into weeks, she began to lose hope.

One day, as Sarah was pacing nervously in her room, she heard a faint scratching sound at the window. She rushed over and peered outside, hoping to see a friendly face. But all she saw was a small bird, pecking at the glass.

Sarah's heart sank. She had hoped for a miracle, but it seemed that they were truly alone in the darkness. She turned away from the window and was about to return to her pacing when she noticed something strange about the wall behind her.

There was a small crack, barely visible in the dim light, running along the baseboard. Sarah knelt down and examined it more closely, and to her surprise, she found that the crack ran all the way around the room.

She called Mark over and showed him the crack. At first, he was skeptical, but as they followed the crack around the room, a glimmer of hope began to spark in his eyes. They had found a way out!

Sarah couldn't believe it. She had always known that Mark was resourceful, but she never would have guessed that he had found a way to escape the mansion. They carefully pried open the wall, revealing a small tunnel leading out into the unknown.

As they made their way through the tunnel, Sarah couldn't help but feel a sense of excitement building inside her. She had always dreamed of exploring the outside world, and now it seemed that her dream was finally within reach.

The tunnel was long and winding, and it seemed to go on forever. But Sarah and Mark were determined to reach the end, no matter how long it took. They pushed on, despite the obstacles they faced, and finally, after what felt like an eternity, they saw a faint light up ahead.

As they emerged from the tunnel and stepped into the bright sunlight, Sarah couldn't help but feel a sense of awe wash over her. The outside world was even more beautiful than she had imagined, and she knew that she would never take it for granted again. She took Mark's hand and together, they walked out into the world, free at last. They spent the next few weeks exploring the countryside, marveling.
