Ep 7 : Phoenix and albatross - the tale of two wings

Jan started his day with a healthy jog and workout, then while whipping up a coffee in the kitchen, he received a call from his trusty PA, Gwen. She informed him about his jam-packed schedule for the day and Jan made a quick adjustment, rescheduling his meeting with the fandom event planners to the morning so he could tackle some important work in the afternoon. Gwen confirmed the change and Jan was good to go.

Meanwhile, Sanam arrived at the office with a quiet prayer on her lips, "God, please let this be the opportunity of a lifetime. If my idea is chosen, I'll be one step closer to world domination...er, I mean, success." Just as she was about to enter, she was abruptly interrupted by Glizza, her colleague, who shouted, "Sanam! You're running late. Our boss is on the warpath. Move it!" Sanam and Glizza were both freelancing interns at the company and had only been there for a hot minute, but their lack of accomplishments were as noticeable as a skunk at a garden party. Glizza confided in Sanam, "I'm a mess. I only finished my presentation last night." Sanam, unfazed, replied, "I finished mine a week ago. I just need to tweak a few things and I'm good to go. I have a good feeling about this."

Laila, their boss's right-hand woman, checked in with Polen to make sure everything was set for Jan's arrival. She informed him that she had sent Jan the outline of all the campaign ideas and he should be arriving soon. Polen, being the cool and collected boss he is, reassured Laila that Nihat had everything under control. Just as he finished speaking, Laila's phone rang and it was none other than Jan Bennit, informing her of his arrival. Laila rushed to the front to welcome Jan with open arms.

Laila warmly hugged her friend Jan and said, "Finally, the world-famous Jan Bennit visits a little event organizing company? Just for old time's sake?" Jan chuckled and replied, "Hey Laila, I believe in your work and this event is important to me." Laila was over the moon, "Wow, that's quite a compliment. Thank you, sir...I mean, esteemed client." Jan let out a hearty laugh and they both made their way into the office.

Sanam and Glizza arrived at the conference room, where a large oval table for discussion was waiting for them. The room was filled with about 10 employees who were already seated, and Glizza had saved a front row seat for Sanam. They both took their seats and their boss, Polen, started the meeting with a warm greeting, "Good morning everyone. I hope you're all prepared for your presentations today. Our VIP client will be here any minute, so let's make sure we're ready. Are we all set?"

Sanam, being the over-confident one, replied with a grin, "Yes, Mam. I've been working on my presentation for days and nights, even last night. I'm pretty sure I'm a shoo-in for the win." Polen, being the sarcastic one, responded, "Wow, last night's art exhibition must have really fired up your creativity. Keep it up."

Sanam gave a nervous laugh, "Yes, Mam. It was quite the experience."

Polen continued, "Let's see who gets the chance to work with this VIP client. In fact, having this kind of VIP client visit our office is a blessing in disguise...for someone."

Gliz, being the curious one, asked, "Mam, who is this VIP?" All the employees leaned forward with anticipation.

Pollen announced with excitement, "It's none other than Jan Bennit, the renowned artist of the world!" The crowd was taken aback, but Sanam was completely stunned. She double-checked with Pollen, "Wait a minute, did you say Jan Bennit?".

Pollen replied, "Yes, that's right. Now, get ready everyone. I'll be back," as her PA informed her that Jan had arrived.

Sanam was nervous and torn between her career and her personal feelings. She didn't want to risk losing her job, but at the same time, she was afraid of facing Jan after their awkward encounter. She tried to take deep breaths and calm her nerves, but it wasn't working.
