Drillmington: Surge of Power

They sat across from each other alone in an office in the recording company building. Just TSL and Julisia.

“If I sign this contract, I could be a billionaire one day,” TSL observed.

“The smitching is paying off in dividends now, though. You’re getting more for informing than you shows and streams combined,” she fired back.

Then, Julisia’s phone rang. “Okay,” she answered.

“We’re to report at the police station in an hour.”

“Alright we can do that but about this contract. I’ll retain ownership of my masters, publishing, and all mechanical royalties. I’ll have the opportunity to invest in liquors if I wanted. I could partner with other companies.”

“I hear you, babe. But we have to deal with what’s happening right now. That’s snitching. Once we lock on that, we’ll have the chance to explore our options in music and branding.” Julisia looked at her beau wistfully.

“Alright, let’s get this over with, then,” TSL said.

Once they had arrived at the precinct, they realized that they had an encounter with Chief of Police Loxana Coulton. She was youngish despite her position on the force. She had braids that looked tight and well kept. The chief greeted the couple.

“It’s so nice to meet you both. I must commend you for all of the work that you’ve done. We’re happy to give you honorary badges on behalf of the Delaware State Police.”

“We’d be delighted to accept such an award,” Julisia replied.

“Alright,” TSL chimed.

“We’re going to give them covertly of course since you both are still undercover citizens. You will receive them in the mail. No ceremony. I just wanted to personally thank and congratulate you on the lives you’ve saved.”

“Yes, I agree with that,” Julisia remarked.

“Absolutely. I think that’s wise,” TSL replied.

“Well, it’s settled, you two are officials in a civilian sense. Or civilians in a cop sense. However you want to put it. Your only bona fides will be enough to get you into the building. You'll have full access to the gym, the offices, and the firing range. Free meals in the cafeteria. And you will be given bonuses based on your future performances.”

TSL looked at Julisia and cracked a small smile.

She took the gesture as assurance. They knew this would net them greater benefits for their time together. Julisia had a question.

“Ma’am, If I may,” she ventured.

“Absolutely. What is it, young lady?”

“As you know, we’re directly in the spotlight. Let’s just say that we transition from snitching to just complete stardom. Will we have increased security across the country and the world?”

Loxana looked at both of them. Her face darkened.

“I can’t say you will have a global protection agency, but in Delaware, you will definitely have the safeguard of the police while you are here.”

TSL exhaled. “With the order of business, we want to ensure that we get no less than a quarter of a million for taking down gang leaders and the heads of human trafficking rings.”

“I think we can arrange that.”

“Alright, I’m on, then. When do we get our badges?” Loxana smiled and rose to her feet.

Julisia and TSL then shot to their feet, too.

“We’ll definitely be in communication. All of the information will be included in the package along with your badges. You both have done this city and state proud. You have earned this esteemed position.”

“Thank you,” Julisia said.

“Thanks,” TSL refrained.

The couple left the place and went into the Goulding. As they laid back in their seats, they each felt a surge of power.
