Swift wind made the chilled air even harsher. The stinging feeling from the bitter winter breeze brought almost everyone to cover their faces. TSL and Julisia walked hand in hand into the courtroom.

“Your honor, we’ve been responsible for over three hundred man years in incarcerated individuals. These weren’t drug dealers. They were fraudsters, murderers, and rapists. We’re seeking your clearance to be official informants in this equation.”

Judge Viviana Fairleigh looked like she was in her late thirties even though she was about to turn fifty-two. She looked at the couple and smirked.

“It’s great to see young people as young as you and a couple doing their civic duty.” TSL squeezed Julisia’s hand as if to roll his eyes but not in front of the judge.

“I’m granting a special private investigators license. It’s only $40 each. I’m sure you both have the means to cover the charge.”

“We do.”

“Well, that settles it. You’re PIs but without guns.”

The couple looked at each other and shrugged.

“Okay.”

“Just go to the office adjacent to the holding cell. They got their fingerprints taken and their photos snapped.” The badges printed from the computer and their faces appeared in the plastic.

“We’ve got to be covert still. We can’t just flash our badges at anyone and everyone. We’re going to go stealth,” TSL explained.

“Of course.”

They took their time getting to the Lightray.

In all of their travels, they knew that future excursions would be fraught with peril. They knew that at a concert, there may be some nefarious characters in the building looking for nothing but venom to inject into a situation.

They still banded together like money folds. Both of them knew the other well enough to create something new and exciting with their new statuses. It was serious fun. What they also did was go to a law firm and establish a 501 (c)(3). This was Delaware. It just took a single digital form to fill out and they were on their way.

They went home. When they looked at the software that tracked activity and online radio scanners, they didn’t find much in the way of criminal involvement.

“I’ve got a show tomorrow.”

“I know,” she said.

“I’m saying this because it’s my first show as a PI and a profit tax exempt organization. That’s something big to me. If we can just let the profit be an organization that will be devoted to finding these miscreants. We have to continually tell people that it’s for kids. Well, actually it is…they get caught in the crossfire, too.”

Julisia folded her arms. There was a rest and then—

“We can call it a profit for SafetySkills. It will be billed as an organization that takes seriously the rules of gun safety for kids. That's what the name means, right?”

“Yes, but it’s for more than that. It’s for the young and old as well. We can bill it as you say an organization that fosters proper firearms handling skills.”

“If we are able to keep our faces out there and known to the public, we might as well be prepared for that day where we have to face people we put behind the wall. It’s something we must continue. It’s crucial. Once we take the steps to bring this snitch organization to the forefront without giving away the true meaning, we should be alright.”

Julisia smirked. Then she burst out laughing.

“What is it?”

“You seem so serious. No, it’s cute. Come here,” She grabbed his waist and kissed his cheek.

“l like it. I think it’s sexy.”
