Where reality is remote controlled

Henry was a man who once lived in a world of dreams called Dreamland. Henry fell asleep on a strange night and woke up in a brand-new dream world. He found himself in the middle of a city that looked normal at first but was very strange. To his utter shock, everything in the room turned out to be a control, living and moving.

People of all ages and sizes zipped remote controls through the air joyfully. Some had stalks that moved around like toys, while others had eyes resembling buttons.

Henry was amazed as they ran a bunch of machines, like huge TV screens that showed vivid dreams and remote-controlled cars that raced around curvy roads.

Henry stood there startled as a senior remote control with a grey face and buttons lit up as stars walked up to him. “Oh, dear man,” it said lovingly to Henry. “Welcome to our world, where robots run everything. The first step is very easy. Please bring me a charger from the dream cafe on the information highway.

Henry, who was still trying to figure out what was going on, nodded and kept wandering through the busy city, passing remote controls that beeped and shouted at him. He finally reached the cafe in the sky, where dreams came in all shapes and sizes. In his dream, the bartender gave him a glass of sparkling “charger,” which seemed to be a mix of chrome and battery.

On his way back, a giant remote control belonging to an older man…. smiling, it said, “Oh, you lazy bum, you’ve been doing nothing and getting fat. It’s time to work out. Let’s go for a walk, come on.

Henry, becoming increasingly amazed and a little bit ashamed by his dependence on remote controls, decided to accompany the middle-aged man on his brisk walk. Exploring a strange city, they walked through a digital park and a forest where remote-controlled birds sang softly.

The additional remote controls gave Henry some odd jobs, such as rewinding memories in the dream library and adjusting the brightness of his dream stars. Henry went along with it to avoid offending his new cartoon friends.

Henry’s stamina decreased as the hours in Dreamland went on. He could feel his tiredness dragging down on his body. As he messed with the remote, he wondered, “How do these remote controls keep up this endless energy?”

Henry awoke with an alarm, sweating heavily, in his bed. It was unclear what had happened, but he found remote controllers to be wonderfully hilarious and frightening.

Stretching and yawning, he thought about the strange and beautiful things that had happened. Henry knew he was not as strong as the remote controls in Dreamland, which could not be broken. How exciting the trip had been! He laughed again, happy for his unique dream but also happy with his own tired, mortal body.

“Accept the weird aspects of your dreams, but love your sense of reality.”

I also often see such dreams where I am flying to different countries, sometimes I am myself is captain of the flight. So watching and living in dreams is different and I enjoyed this story.

Henry's dream of a lively Dreamland, filled with remote controls and whimsical tasks, contrasts with the reality of his own human limitations. It's a charming tale that celebrates the imagination of dreams and the beauty of our real-life experiences. Embrace the oddities of dreams and the authenticity of reality. 🌙✨

“Accept the weird aspects of your dreams, but love your sense of reality.” True. This should not be forgotten. We like to live in dream lands and it makes us happy, is not it?

    It's a great effort.

  • This was an amazing read. You know what makes your short stories unique? is that in every story there's always a lesson to be learned, and reflecting on the story's lesson indeed, it is important to know our capability; it is not sin to dream; rather, we should not be discouraged, no matter how absurd. The most important thing is that we can recognize what is possible for us to achieve. Thank you for sharing your story, and I'll absolutely wait for more of your stories in the future.

  • Omggg, that dream was soooo fascinating! I wish I too could have been with Henry in his dream. Loved your story!

I couldn't get over the "remote-controlled birds" singing! Hope that never comes to fruition.
