Anxious, I ran to find the patient who had screamed.
In the middle of the room, as if ripped open by a monster, there was a molten scar splitting the room open.
Collecting myself, I saw him. Writhing, a black vine held his leg and was dragging him toward the opening.
Before I could move, he was pulled through taking his screams with him.
Staring at the spot where he had been moments before, I felt a hard shove on my back.
The last thing I heard before I tumbled headlong into the crackling molten scar was “it’s your turn.”
