In a bygone era, the Southern nation rejoices in the coronation of its new king, marked by celebrations and gifts from the North. The euphoria is short-lived as the seemingly benevolent gestures turn out to be a trap, with the gift bearers revealed as disguised assassins. The royal guards thwart their assassination attempt, exposing a nefarious plot. Commander Guan urges the king to respond swiftly by hosting a tournament to select a general and counter the impending war.

With a sense of urgency, Commander Guan dispatches messenger eagles to nearby cities, seeking formidable fighters. Simultaneously, in a resource-scarce town, guards distribute water ration, leading to tension among the populace. A daring thief named Don exploits the situation, executing a Mission Impossible-style heist for water. His escape, however, is interrupted by guards, inadvertently causing a building collapse. A worker named Hong heroically rescues a child, allowing the thief to evade capture temporarily. The town receives a letter from Commander Guan, demanding three fighters for the upcoming tournament.

Don, motivated by a desire to prove himself, volunteers. Unexpectedly, Hong and the guard captain also enlist. Before their journey to the capital, Don pays respects to his orphaned past at his mother's grave. Hong is given a broken spear with a history by the town chief, hoping it aids his survival as it did a decade ago. The team heads to the capital through deserts, encountering a giant scorpion. Hong's spear skills save them, but they lose a teammate.

As they reach the capital, they discover Commander Guan's hidden agenda – a conspiracy to weaken the nation for a Northern invasion. The tournament begins with a deadly race, where contestants fight while tethered to teammates. The challenges escalate with rotating fields, deadly spheres, and intense battles. Don's team perseveres, but the commander's deceit unfolds. Hong's dark past is revealed as he seeks vengeance against Guan for betraying the Southern army.

In the second tournament, they confront a giant monster to obtain its egg. Hong is poisoned, and the team faces perilous challenges. Don's courage prevails as they escape with the egg. Returning to the capital, they learn about their true heritage, and internal conflicts arise. The group is teleported to a dimension revealing their pasts, emphasizing the need for unity. Hong's rage causes a rift, and Jing is tragically caught in the crossfire.

The story builds towards a climactic battle for the capital. Don exposes Commander Guan's treachery, uniting clans against the Northern spies. Hong confronts the commander, saving the king, but Jing succumbs to her injuries. Don's pursuit of justice sees him challenge Guan in a glider duel, thwarting a fiery plot. Hong avenges his fallen friends and becomes the new general.

In the aftermath, Hong commemorates Jing's sacrifice, and Don pledges to prevent future conflicts. The fallen hero is honored, and alliances are forged with a giant serpent. The narrative, filled with twists, turns, and emotional depth, invites reflection on the characters' journeys, justice, and the price of vengeance.
