Doomsday!

A day full of chaotic adventures and circumstances.

Imagine losing a loved one, or two, or three. And the only memory you have of them is of a heart-shaped locket that you held dear to your heart. The locket then takes its own journey in life as it is misplaced; nowhere to be found.

The last time it was seen was at the funeral site. A day where it was rainy, dark, and muddy. It could be anywhere. The heart-shaped locket brought about a certain frequency. Surely positive, bringing luck like no other. A locket that was passed down from generation to generation.

As it is given to the next person in line, it is said to keep the heart-shaped locket safe, secure, and close to your heart. If those simple laws were not honored, horrific things would start to happen.

It all started, June 15th, waking up late for work only to get fired. The alarm clock did not go off. Internet service and power is down. No way to call, email, or contact anyone. You need to go to the bank to withdraw money for bills, which are a day late, take money out for gas; that you do not have, groceries, and etc.

Noticing the heart-shaped locket is missing, you conclude that these are the reasons for the unfortunate events that are happening.

You cannot find any of your “right shoes”, but some flip flops. Only things that happen to be in sight are left-footed shoes without the other pair to match. Flip flops it is. Although it was raining and thunder storming, you made it to the car safely. As you approach the bank, you notice everything looks closed or shut down. The bank was not open due to power outages in the entire area, nor was the ATM functioning.

You put your hand on your head in confusion. Wondering where your life has gone in the past few days. You made a much needed drive to the gas station with only one thing in mind, make it back to the funeral site before midnight. Driving into the nearest gas station in sight, you accept the extra charges for using your credit card at the gas station to fill up. Things are starting to look better for you.

Arriving at the funeral site, there was no one present. On a mission, you immediately exit your car to where the family heart-shaped locket could have been. No luck. You search high and low. Far and wide across the entire perimeter. You think to yourself, where could it be?

Not giving up, the search continues. There was no sign of the locket anywhere. You used a little imagination and hopeful thinking as you began to search the car. Removing everything that is not the locket, rearranging the inside of your entire vehicle. You take a deep breath and begin to think more. You have never had such a bad day as such, but you know it will all get better.

You return home after a long day and an extended search. You make some warm tea as you start to relax. You recognized a shoe that was out of place. It was a “right-footed shoe”, one that you were previously looking for earlier. You pick it up, while seeing something sparkle in the darkness of the power outage. You dig in your shoe and pull out your family’s heart-shaped locket.

You returned the locket to the original necklace piece it was attached to. Putting it over your head, you regain confidence and radiate with new hope. Holding it dear to your heart as your family tradition, everything bad started to turn for the better.

Despite everything that was going on and went on that day, the heart-shaped locket kept you safe and grounded. You began to feel like life was worth living again. You did just that; lived.

No matter how badly life may seem or it is treating you, always keep your head up and persevere. Nothing in life is permanent unless you let it. Follow positivity and positivity will follow you. Most of all, stay true to your family traditions and live by the wise words of your ancestors.

Dooms day does not last forever, it is only one day.
