“Don’t call the cops on me!”
A slightly annoyed drabble
Ok, I’ve done it. My phone shows 10,152 steps in for the day at 10:50 pm.
As I head to my apartment building, a police car pulls next to me. The driver’s window is open: it’s still hot here this week, sticky warm at night.
“Are you ok, maaam? Someone called in, saw you up the road walking and crossing too often.”
“Yeah, I was just walking, putting my steps in. Is avoiding cars on the road a crime now?” I smile.
“No, I guess they thought you weren’t sober. Have a good night!”
“Thank you?” As he pulls away.
