Diamond of the Sky
"I have been cast from my home; I am the North Star."
The moon was high and complete in the night sky whilst one of the strongest storms in history took its toll on the island of Mary's End. Down on the deep blue sea was a ship known as the 'Red Royal. The crew onboard was struggling to do anything and everything to keep their vessel above the unforgiving waters. The Captain at the helm was directing the valiant crew to the best of his abilities.
"Look, alive men! The sea is giving us all she's got!" The Captain hoped the water's screaming didn't drown out his voice.
While tossed about, one of the crewmen looked above the skies. He prayed to his lord and saw a bright white light flash through the sky. He followed the lights trail and saw it land in the waters. Then, like magic, the seas calmed into the state they were before. The crewman rushed over to his Captain and told him about the light falling into the waters.
"Lead us to it, man." The Captain entrusted the crewman with the task.
The crewman pointed in the direction of the light. When the ship and its men neared the landing area, they saw a faint glow underneath the water's surface.
"Ready the net, men! Let's get whatever is under there." The Captain ordered, and the crew members were quick to obey.
Underneath the moon's light, the Captain waited. He was a tall, dark-haired man, wearing a long black leather coat and dark eyeliner under his eyes. The most peculiar feature about him was that his left eye blazed a deep blood red while the other shone the iciest of blues. His eyes gazed upon the net now being pulled up with the glow of mass inside. The men set the net down onto the wooden deck, and the crewmen opened it. Some of the men were apalled, while others could not bring their gaze astray.
"Cap'n, are ya seein' this?" One of the crewmen asked.
The Captain walked down from the ship's helm and onto the deck. His boots clattered on the wet wood, seemingly echoing across the ocean. The crewmen divided into two narrow lines for their Captain to allow him to see. Once the Captain saw what his boat had pulled up out of the water, he joined the men who could not bring their gaze away.
"How could that have fallen from the sky?" The Captain asked his men, not expecting an answer.
Inside the net made of rope was a young, quite literally glowing, white-haired woman. Her hair was braided but still was as long as she was tall; she wore a cream-coloured dress and light white makeup. Her skin was as tan as the sands of the shoreline in the distance. She slowly stirred, then woke up, and her glowing aura disappeared.
"Where....where am I? W-who are you?" She slurred her words.
"Captain Valentine Nightwine, love, you're aboard the 'Red Royal,'" Captain Nightwine told the woman "who are you?"
The young woman stood up with shaky legs, as if she were a newborn deer on ice, and took a deep breath. She pondered in deep thought for a few moments before relaxing.
"I prayed that this would never happen." She whispered to herself.
She turned to the Captain. "I have been cast from my home; I am the North Star."
At that moment, all was silent, and all eyes were focused on the sky. All eyes were on the same spot.
Their eyes trailed to a gaping spot in the sky where the North star used to be.
