I was working the beat, listening to the street. I found clues, the blues were playing, moving my feet. If I found out who did this, they were dead meat. I tracked down a suspect based on witness descriptions, it was neat. He demanded a lawyer and got a law firm, a whole fleet. “It was a doppelgänger, I swear,” he said without a care. I knew I trapped him in my snare. I interrogated him in the dark using only a flare. “We found your fingerprints,” I said and stared. We put him away, he yelled and blared.

I Trusted a Frog
“Oh, cool, a frog,” I said. “I can talk, you know,” the frog said. “Oh, cool. A talking frog,” I said. “You mean you’re not scared? Why?” The frog asked. “I watch fairy tail movies. If I kiss you, will you turn into a prince?” I asked. “Close. A wealthy businessman,” the frog said. I picked up the frog and gave him a smooch. I felt myself shrinking. “What just happened?” I asked. “Oops! A Celebration in Cosgrove
In a dusty town square nestled among the western mountains of the former Divided States of America, a low table is set and spread with a meal larger than any of the assembled locals have ever seen. A sacrifice is being made and a child approaches the platters of rat filet with wild leeks, stunted corn dripping with dog butter, and grainy porridge swimming with berries. As the child sits at the small chair, a nearby elder grips a carving knife in anticipation.
