Chaos, pandemonium, police officers everywhere, FBI negotiators, news crews, all outside trying to get eyes inside the library the bank robber had barricaded himself in after a heist gone terribly wrong.

Inside the library he robber paced. A phone rang and one of the children picked it up. The robber turned, furious. The gun went off with a bang, a couple of the hostages screamed. Somewhere a window shattered.

“Everyone on the ground, don’t move... or next time, I won’t miss.”

The girl hadn’t flinched when the first shot tore passed her. Instead she placed the phone down, watching the gunman. Her face reflecting interest, not terror. He pointed the gun at her, his glassy eyes bloodshot and frenzied.

“I said EVERYONE on the ground.” She took one step towards him. Then another. To the horror of the other hostages another shot rang out.

The robber’s blood spattered the girls face as he coughed once, and collapsed. The girls stood there for a moment and turned to face the other hostages who gaped at her. In her little hands she had her own gun. She looked at their shocked faces and smiled slightly.

“I mean... I wasn’t going to miss.”
