They all gathered there in the open field, cloaked in their different colors. Four young ladies stood there, the first one to let their hood slip was a girl with mint green eyes. Her dark green hair was up in a crown braid, many small marigold flowers were laced in it. Her skin was a peaches-and-cream with light fading make- up. She looked way too young to be in the presence of all of them. She fell daintily down to the ground; as soon as her hands were placed on the ground flowers started to grow around her. She let her head lift up and back as her face hit the warm sun and then looked back at the other ladies, giving them a comforting smile as the mood of the others seemed to calm down. As if someone had slipped something into their veins to make them more agreeable.

The next young lady to drop her dark blue with waves sewn into her wrist sleeves. Was a young Lady with a pure coral-colored eye on her right, and a dull grey-black eye on her left. She had sliver blue scales running up her cheekbone and stopping at her eyebrow. Her skin was pale as if she had never seen the sun, she seemed to wince as she lifted the hood back up to cover her face. Her lips were the only color you could see through the dark hood as they were a pale pink.

The lady next to her took her hand up to the bronze hood as her black curly hair was laying on her shoulder and had golden strands running through it, as there were a couple of brides that kept the unruly curled hair back. Her face was thin and strong-looking as her eyes were the color of crimson with a fire set in the center. There was the slighted bit of eyeliner set on her lips and flowing her monolid eye shape. Her lips were dark as an apple, her skin was a tan with a couple of freckles placed across her nose that would not be noticeable unless you leaned in close. Her ears had a slight point to them but they were not as sharp as the girl with dark green hair that had jewels lining the top to the end of her ears.

The last girl let a smile line her lips as she shook her hood off and it landed on her back. Her dark brown hair that had some white and dark purple strands to it was held into tight braids with silver rings holding tight onto some of them, her skin was a light brown as she looked around at the other girls, her rainbow eyes traced their faces as her bracelets under the fabric of the cloak sleeves moved around slightly. Rings also laced some of her fingers that were painted a dark color. As the black cloak held loosely onto her neck, you were able to see a patch of white skin. She looked at the other girls and then parted her lips “So why might we be here, I would assume this is because of the War the humans chose to bring onto us. If that is so & you ask me what we should do. I say separate them from us permanently unless they prove themself to us and the gods a many” she said as she walked over to the lady with her hood still up and handed her black laced wire sunglasses.

She took them and slide her hood down as she placed them on her nose, her ears like the other girls had a slight point to them as she looked at the others; no one had disagreed, it was true that humans should not be allowed to damage their world once again, they polluted her sea, so why should she let them stay in her realm. “ I agree the sea is damaged and many of my people get sick from them, I agree with you. But we need a keeper to keep them out and to keep the gods' valuables safe. For many years we have guarded their sacred items with our lives.”

The lady who laid by her flowers that had now doubled looked at the three of them “we could make a border, separate them from us, but that would need a lot of power.”

The lady with curly dark hair looked out past the field “ I will pray and you three are most definitely powerful enough to separate their world from us. Hopefully, the gods will grant us keeps.” With that, she sat down in the grass and closed her eyes, crossing her legs and speaking in a foreign tongue. As she communicated with the gods, the three ladies came near each other.

They looked in the distance at the town of humans who would not know what would come for them. The girl with coral and dull grey-black eyes took the other lady with dark green hair's hand as they both put their hands to the ground and chanted. The ground cracked between the town and them and then the town moved several feet away from their field, the lady with braids lacing around her face and rings on her thin fingers set her hand to the air and as the two ladies let their hands rest back down in their laps, then they fell over each other as they went into a deep sleep never to wake. The lady with curly black hair got the gods to give them keeps but paid the price and she felt her heart stop as her words caught short and she fell back. The lady with many rings finally set her spell in place, blood dripping from her eyes & ears as she fell to her knees and then rested, never to get back up like the other three ladies.

About the Creator

Victorian Black

I have always loved writing, even if it can be challenging sometimes but that has never stopped me. I have always wanted to be an author. Many of my books take topics people are afraid to talk about, so I put that topic in my writing.
