Dear pebble in my pocket...

I wanted to write you this letter to explain a few things

For twenty-five years I've been carrying you in my pocket. A mis-shapen, purpley-blue lump, a groove on one side and dots of pink ground into your shiny surface over millennia. To me, you were a diamond.

Nobody knows I kept you. How would I explain? The truth would seem ridiculous. I picked you up one day when I felt low and the sun came out after weeks of storms. It seemed symbolic, so I kept you. Things started going right.

Today I return you to your rightful home, this same beach and wish you well.

Thanks for bringing me luck.
