Dear Momma

The 3 Amigos

By TaffsPublished 4 years ago 3 min read

Dear momma,

Hey momma , I know that it's been a while but I was just sitting here thinking about you on mother's day.

Do you remember when my brother and were little , what you said when daddy left? You had said that it was just us for now on and that we were the 3 Amigos .. all for one and one for all.

That was a tough year for us ..

I remember it well even though I was just 3 at the time and my brother was 4 . Daddy made some promises about seeing us during Christmas , and we were so excited, even you seemed to want to see him. Although at the time My brother and I didn't really understand what was going on.. you always held it together , and when we kept asking you were daddy was, not understanding why he left , you were kind about the answer , not that I remember what it was now .

I think you felt it right along with us when daddy didn't show up for Christmas like he said he would that year.. we hadn't seen him in a long time and we were so excited , I think that was the first time in my life I had ever been truly disappointed about anything .

However , you kept it bright and up beat for my brother and my self. We had decorated for Christmas hoping Daddy would like it. Using fake snow to decorate the windows and piling tinsel on the tiny little Christmas tree we did have. It may have resembled more of a Picasso than a tree but it sure was fun. We always made Christmas fun, I think I loved decorating more than any thing.

Our first Christmas with out dad, became many.. and through all of it , we were the 3 amigos , and while I forgive my father , I have known that you were the one that kept us strong, and you were the one that I found to be my hero on that Christmas Day and so many other times through out growing up, Because a mother's love sometimes shields the pain of her own heart , if only to be strong for her kids. Maybe you don't know this but , I have always been thankful for the strength you have shown through the face of adversity.

We never had things like the other kids , and at times I was even bullied for the clothes I had or the shoes I wore, but had no one said a thing, I'd have not even cared or noticed. I suppose I learned to love and apricate the little things in life , and to not put so much attention on things that didn't matter.. after all it's not about what you own, it's about who you are.. having a good heart , and trying to be the best you can be.

I owe a large part of Who I am , to you momma. Don't think for second that I forgot all those years ago who was there holding my hand on the first day of school and teaching me values of life and how to cook.. Who dusted off my knees and taught me to laugh through the tears when I was upset.

It has helped me to be strong for my kids, and to be the kind of mother that faces life even if it knocks me on my butt time and again, that every time I fall, I'll stand right back up.. To face life head on, holding my kids hands, and telling my babies the same thing that you told my brother and I all those years ago.

For now it will be just us, but we are like the 3 Amigos . All for one , and one for all.

Happy Mother's Day Momma,

With All My Love XOXO,

Your Daughter
