Dead Man Wanted
The cure is to be protected by death
You are seeing what is happening. They all became sick and were falling all around us. You seem shocked. You run towards the door and act like you are sick. You want to escape this celebration, but it has turned into a nightmare. You notice the others enjoying themselves, then go slack and lethargic. Their forms slowly pass out, turning cold right before your eyes. You look around to see if it is just you and check whether anyone else is alive. You search while acting sick, as if the poison is taking longer. You walk through the other rooms with the same result until you find another person playing sick. He is walking around the room and notices you. You greet him, then run off into another room as if you were both sick. You pull the fake vaccine ID from your pocket, and he pulls out his fake ID. You look at him and realize the others really took that shot.
You also realize that since you have not fallen dead, the authorities will be looking for you. So you suggest simply playing dead in the main party rooms and escaping when the authorities stop looking. You find another woman with another fake vaccine ID and then collapse in the room. You hear the cleaners chuckling about the foolishness of believing government authorities like politicians. You feel that your body is being moved to the middle of the room, lying next to the dead ones. Their comments about the garbage bins not arriving until tomorrow prompt them to wait until they leave. You wait until the quiet lasts a while, and the three wake up and crawl across the floor to the door. You did not wish to have the ticking time bomb in you and were glad for the doctor signing off. The others join as you look for an exit to escape the massacre without being noticed.
You hear noise in the stairwell as guards patrol, but you duck down to another level. You know you are dead if they discover you with the others alive. You know that this was supposed to be the cure to end this virus, but it seems to be just a ploy to kill the population at will. You know you are one of the few witnesses to this event. You remember all these events being held and being told that they went on to better lives elsewhere, with the one who tried to say things went wrong later arrested and never seen again. You can only try to find a way out as more are discovered hiding in a room, making your group over ten. You follow one guy who used to work there and called everyone dead men walking. You keep up as he leads everyone towards the basement, but something tells you not to trust him. You warn the others, but some still trust him. You quietly lead about half the group away and head in a different direction. You can see some doors as you hear gunshots and screams, with voices saying they are dead and asking where the others are. You try to hide from the guards that know you are alive.
You find yourself in a labyrinth that doesn't seem to end in an exit, while boots echo as they search for your group. You search the area for anything that seems to lead outside. The darkness doesn't help, but you are still alive for now. You lead your group to climb under a set of stairs as boots draw closer. You tell everyone to remain calm as the guards are right under you. You control your breathing as they walk past, and you calm the lady next to you. They look around with their flashlights but never look up. You notice that they leave one guard behind as lookout, and you start thinking of a plan. You grab a strong man and whisper the plan to him.
You come down from under the steps and act confused. You see the guard start to grab his gun as your cohort chokeholds him until he passes out. You steal his radio, uniform, key card, and flashlight. You tell the man to put on the uniform as you continue to search the large basement. You hear another guard on patrol as you have the guy act as if he is escorting the prisoners to their deaths. You see the guard grow suspicious as another group member hits him on the head. You then rob the guard of supplies and uniform, then head to another part of the labyrinth. A woman in the group points out an exit sign to your relief. You slowly lead your group to a set of doors that seem to lead right out. You notice the guards by them and then come up with a plan.
After you discover a ruse with the uniforms and a little chaos, you set up a decoy event and wait for it to go off. The two dressed up as guards go to the door to follow your plan. You see your guards take over the door and wait for the decoy. You finally hear the explosion in the distance, and with the cards, keep the doors open as you and your group leave with the sirens going off. As you leave last, try to find a place to hide. The guards quickly head towards the door and stop as they cannot make a scene.
You run into an alley and find an abandoned building. Everyone else follows you as you regroup to figure out your next moves. The motive to kill was a mystery, and the city was not safe, as you knew. You ask if there is a way out without being seen or hunted, and that waiting for nightfall will be too late before they eventually hunt you down. One man tells you that he worked the sewers and can lead you and the group out of the city. You and the group head underground after finding boxes of clothing to get out of the nice dresses and suits. You do this to make it more comfortable. As you head into the sewers, you say goodbye to your former life and welcome the life of a wanted criminal. You follow the rest into the small tunnels, but it is an escape as a new life is exposed. The man told you the end of the city, and the smaller cities were an unknown future. Now you must avoid capture and get the news out, as one escapee published the video in the media and then destroyed his phone, as the journey had just begun.
