Care for a journey?

Separate from time and space, you and I can stroll through wherever and whenever we like.

Let us begin on a young Earth. We sit peacefully on a stone spire. The feeling of warmth radiates around us from the molten magma below. We watch as great bubbles burst, sending rippling waves against the stone around them. We see the magma cooling as it recedes. Each wave leaves a piece of itself behind. We watch as land begins to form. Plates of stone and molten crust begin to hide the oceans of magma that cover the Earth. As the sun sets, we see a great blue ball racing across the sky. A blurry tail chases behind.

It is a comet set to make its home here on Earth. As huge chunks of ice burst into the atmosphere they begin to melt. The icy water begins to cover and cool the planet. The main body of the comet crashes down to the Earth with a roar like nothing you have ever heard before. You pull my hand to help me avoid a tidal wave of steaming water, even though you know it cannot hurt us.

We step from our stone pedestal and onto a pocket of steam as it rises high above the chaos. I pull you in close by the hip to steady you on the breeze. Beneath us we witness the forming of the first continent, Pangea. As the Earth begins to cool down, we gently float down to the ground. We can feel the pressure of the air and the water meeting to form currents.

When we look closely, we can see the tides turning stone to soil. We walk hand in hand onto the land as it begins to take shape. The lands around us begin to green. Life is bursting forth before our eyes. Little buds blossom from under the soil. We stand in place in the wonder as we see them stretch and grown into flowers and trees. We each stretch out our hands to the tip of a growing trunk. It carries us high into the sky on a cushion of leaves.

From the treetop we watch a pterodactyl soar majestically across the sunset. We are nestled nicely into our nest as night falls. It is then that our tree begins to shake. A brontosaurus has chosen our nest for his next meal. We laugh as we leap onto his head and slide playfully down his long neck. You sneak a kiss on my cheek before I have firmly set my feet back on solid ground. Then you run away, giggling. I chase you through the trees, but I trip as the ground beneath us starts to rattle.

The earth between us rips in two. A chasm begins to form. For a moment, I am awe-struck by the bottomless pit that separates you from me. I see you across the way smiling your beautiful smile and I am lifted into the air. You are pulling me towards you against the very laws of nature themselves. Just as you have always done.

Pangea is no more and the continents are separating. We ride along as the tides and plates decide where to place us. The Earth needs to heal from this traumatic shift. To do so, will be cold. The temperature drops rapidly around us. You squeeze me close until we adjust to the frigid air. Life around us becomes a snow globe. Swirls of white replace the colors of the mighty trees.

The Earth stands still around us. We walk through our own winter wonderland. A serene pond is waiting for us at the bottom of a hill. We sit and admire the beauty of the blank sky above reflecting in its glasslike, icy surface.

Let us sit here and stay awhile. People are about to show up.
