The Blood Plains

### **The Desert of Shattered Time**

The Blood Plains stretch endlessly — a cracked wasteland where the sand is powdered glass and the air shimmers with mercury vapor.

Ethan’s throat burns with every breath. Jax stumbles behind him, clutching the memory crystal from Nammu like a talisman.

“The Anunnaki fortress better have water,” Jax rasps. “Or I’m drinking Custodian pee.”

Ethan doesn’t laugh. The sky here is wrong — a bruised purple streaked with veins of gold, as if Terra Infinita itself is bleeding. The serpentine mountain looms closer, its ribs curving into a gateway etched with **Anunnaki runes**.

### **The Proxies’ Hunt**

They hear the Proxies before they see them.Custodian Proxies** glide over the glass dunes,

their faceless heads scanning for heat signatures. Their bodies are humanoid but distorted — spines serrated into blades, fingers elongated into scalpels. Their voices harmonize in a mechanical chant: *“Yuga hungers. Yuga consumes.”*

Ethan and Jax dive into a trench as golden plasma scorches the ground. “They’re not here to kill us,” Jax hisses. “They’re herding us. For *it*.”

A shadow blots out the sun.

### **The Anunnaki’s Fury**

**Enkidu** arrives in fire and thunder.

His mechanized steed — a creature of fused bone and steel — vomits napalm onto the Proxies.

Enkidu himself is a mountain of scaled armor, his helmet shaped like a snarling wolf. He dismounts, crushing a Proxy’s skull under his boot.

“Pathetic,” he growls, voice echoing through his visor. “The Custodians send scrap to greet me.”

Ethan raises his stolen Custodian pistol. “We’re looking for the Anunnaki.”

Enkidu removes his helmet. His face is humanoid but alien — skin azure, eyes vertical pupils burning like supernovas. *“You’ve found them.”*

— -

### **The Price of Passage**

Enkidu leads them to an oasis that isn’t an oasis. The “water” is liquid mercury,

swirling around a monolith of black stone. He drinks deeply, unfazed.

“The Custodians call this place the Blood Plains,” he says. “They executed my kin here after the First Betrayal. Their machines grind our bones into this sand.”

Jax eyes the mercury. “Charming. How do we get to your fortress?”

Enkidu’s gaze locks on Ethan. *“Tiamat’s gates open only to those who shed their **Known Earth skin**.”*

He tosses Ethan a dagger forged from star-metal. *“Cut out your DebtTracker scar. The Custodians use it to track you.”*

— -

### **The Ritual**

Ethan hesitates. The scar — a relic of his Corporate enslavement — curls over his heart like a burnt worm. Jax grips his shoulder. “Don’t. This could be a trap.”

Enkidu snarls. *“You reek of fear, little rebel. The Anunnaki do not beg for allies.”*

Ethan drives the blade into his chest.

The scar squirms, alive, before dissolving into ash. The pain is transcendent. When he opens his eyes, the world is sharper — colors brighter, the Proxies’ chants decipherable:

*“Yuga Protocol: Harvest the Chainbreaker. Harvest the key.”*

— -

### **The Proxy’s Gift**

As night falls, the Proxies attack again — not to kill, but to **deliver a message**.

A drone slams into their camp, spitting a hologram of **Alden Voss**, now more Custodian than human. His body pulses with golden circuitry.

*“Cole. The Yuga-Sleepers stir. Surrender the Gigalmu’s location, and I’ll spare your corpse.”*

Enkidu crushes the drone. *“The Custodians fear what they cannot control. We reach Tiamat by dawn.”*

— -

### ** The Gateway…**

They ride through the night, Enkidu’s steed leaving trails of fire in the glass. At the mountain’s base, the gateway pulses with stolen Custodian energy.

Jax mutters, “This feels like a bad trade. Scar removal for… whatever’s in there.”

Ethan touches his healed chest. “We’re out of choices.”

The gateway opens. Inside: **Tiamat**, a fortress-city of singing crystal and screaming metal.

Anunnaki warriors with Enkidu’s azure skin train in holographic battlefields, their cries echoing across time itself.

Enkidu grins. *“Welcome to the war, Chainbreaker. Now meet our queen.”*
