Dana

Dana is seven years old, and she is a single child.

She loves riding her bicycle, and pretty nothing can frighten her. She loves aeroplanes too. One day she will become a pilot and spend her life in the sky. She would be free and travel to all those strange and fascinating shapes and names she knows from the coloured maps she received for her birthday.

She is doing very well in school, despite struggling to make friends. She spends her time reading books as her mother taught her to read very early, and she loves exploring the surroundings of their house with her imaginary friend, Tom and Lino, the dog. Tom appeared in Dana's life when she was five years old and had just started school.

She describes him as a goofy prince who can take any shape and form and loves to entertain and cheer her up at any cost. They made a promise not to let go of each other.

David and Lucia, Dana's parents, bought a house in a small village surrounded by mountains. After their wedding, they decided to escape from the city's dusty streets and live in a quiet and serene place where they could have children and live a peaceful life.

David used to be a traveller when he was younger. He wandered alone towards many sunsets and sunrises. He has seen many foreign lands and gained a lot of wisdom from his travels.

Lucia used to love travelling as well. She always adored children very much and dreamed of building a big family. She became a teacher, but she felt accomplished when she had Dana.

A tragedy hit the couple when they least expected it and planned to have a second child. They discovered that Dana fell ill with a brain tumour and was given little time to live.

Doctors and parents did everything in their power to save her. They explored all possible treatment options but in vain.

After praying night and day and begging that something or someone could cure her, they decided never to lose hope even if their Dana was dying.

Seeing their little girl diminishing her light every day little by little, they decided it was time to take her back home from the hospital. Even if they were fearful and doubtful, they wanted to give their daughter the most beautiful memories and surround her with all the love they could offer.

They thought that maybe the house, her dog, Lino, and the fresh air of the mountains would help her somehow feel better.

At sunset, David and Lucia were sitting on their terrace, watching with love their girl that fell asleep in Lucia's arms. "I would give anything to see her full of life again. If it wasn't for you, I don't know how I would find the strength to go through this. We are losing our girl, and we can do nothing to help her."

David graciously takes her hand and, trying not to lose himself in her eyes full of tears, says: "I could never live without you or Dana. All that matters is that we have each other, and somehow, we will overcome this." And while he kissed Lucia's hand, something that looked like a drone was approaching them at an incredible speed.

It was as if it knew what it was doing, and with exact precision, it stopped in front of them and dropped a box made of an unusual-looking material. In complete shock, Lucia and David stare at the box, unsure what to do.

All of a sudden, the box vibrates and opens up. Inside was holding something that looked like a piece of coal.

Dana wakes up and, with excitement, jumps from her mother's arms and, without hesitation, grabs the piece of coal that, in her hands, transforms into a striking turquoise stone of rare beauty.

The little one, sighted in relief and smiling, said to her mother: "I will be better now, mom. You don't have to worry about me anymore."

After dropping the box, the drone picked up speed and disappeared.

David and Lucia were assessing the surroundings to understand if they could see anyone witnessing the occurring. However, there was no one in sight.

“ What just happened?” says David, stupefied. “There is no address on the box, no information to whom the sender may be. This box could be the result of some high-end technology. Yet what about the rock?”

“We have nothing to lose but to take a leap of faith. “adds Lucia. “Our little one radiates light, and it’s a long time since we saw her like this. So serene. We keep all this to ourselves until we know Dana is on the right path.”

Over the next few days, Dana became energised and spirited.

David and Lucia were thrilled to see their daughter so full of life again. They still couldn't find an explication for what happened. They took Dana for her test at the hospital to find out that she was healed of her illness.

Their life has been changed for the better, and they couldn't be more grateful for the mysterious box and miraculous stone that came and saved their daughter's life.
