Politics can kill

Fear, nausea, and ever-increasing pain are what kept her racing through the empty streets and down the sewage collection site. She was taught to always hide; “Never trust what any creature tells you as long as you live.” Her mother beat that into every cell in her being until the moment Andie watched her mother murdered by the Proclamation Enforcement.

Andie Rose was fifteen with no one to care for except herself. In a world full of obscurity, corruption, and greed she’d been assigned a quest by her mother’s last words. “This is the key to the past, present, and future. Keep it close; the whole truth will find you.” Those simple words became her obsession.

By the time she slipped down the ladder to the “hideout”, she was completely drenched in sweat due to the unregulated weather patterns the Earth had created. Between China’s geoengineering ordinances, to control and predict the weather, and Bill Gate’s new solar geoengineering, to block out the sun, Earth was determined to exterminate all living creatures. The weather curbed her efforts along with the new proclamations directly from the NEW WORLD ORDER stating that every person was to be wearing a military-grade, tactical gas mask. “ANY INDIVIDUAL SEEN OR REPORTED NOT WEARING ONE WILL BE ANNIHILATED ON SITE.” As she reached the other UNVACCINATED, she removed her mask and smiled at the efforts of this NEW WORLD ORDER.

“Did you discover anything Miss Rebellious?” Adam asked her, with that devilish grin smeared across his face.

Adam Glenn was Andie’s best friend and usually partners in mischief. They were both fifteen with no one to finish raising them. Adam was adopted as a child and his foster parents were executed due to not adhering to the proclamations involving reproduction. Everything was government-regulated these days. It was determined that if a woman tests positive for pregnancy then she has been with an unvaccinated man and is not following public safety regulation and reporting laws. Only the unvaccinated men could give a woman life; THE NEW WORLD ORDER made sure that was inevitable with every vaccine.

“Ha! You act like there is still something to find up there that hasn’t been deleted by the NEW WORLD ORDER.” Andie replied sarcastically, as she mussed his hair.

“This NEW WORLD ORDER makes the lives of the UNVACCINATED a living hell! CONFORM OR DIE! OBEY AND DON’T ASK QUESTIONS!” Adam had puffed out his chest trying to imitate one of the messengers they’d seen delivering new ordinances to the public. He was attempting to lighten the point he was making, but Andie could always see the fear and hurt in his eyes when he spoke.

“Well, of course, it’s a living hell for the UNVACCINATED because we’re not supposed to be LIVING anymore! We can’t purchase anything we require to survive, and we’re NOT AUTHORIZED to sell anything because we aren’t chipped, Mr. Sherlock.” Andie was trying to seem more agitated. She learned from the start that if she acted out Adam’s frustrations then he would feel a lot better about his inability to hide his emotions.

“It’s just not fair anymore.” Adam stated as he sank down to a sitting position not caring if it was clear of any sewage.

“Nothing in life worth fighting for is going to be fair or easy. We must live every day like it’s our last and manage the best we can, okay? Now, stop thinking and tell me a story that your parents used to tell you before you’d go to sleep.” She said as she slid her knapsack off and dug out some meal replacements she’d found while above ground.

Andie wasn’t the best at consoling anyone let alone herself. She did care for Adam just as she’d known him her whole life. She yearned to tell him about the oddly shaped teardrop locket with the metal engravings her mother had given her on the day she died. She also promised her mother that she would never tell a soul. She pretended to listen to Adam’s fairytales while the unwelcomed thoughts raged war in her mind and heart. Why was Adam so lucky? His parents never left his side without telling him that they loved him even on the day they died. She had a single mother that prepared her for war it seemed. She knew how to provide for herself even before the NEW WORLD ORDER banned the UNVACCINATED. She knew every detail on how to survive, yet she couldn’t shake the question her heart asked daily. Did her mother truly love her? Andie glanced over these worries each time she tried to sleep until she was able to restrain them to the back of her mind. She told herself constantly “I HAVE A MISSION.” Even if she knew nothing else, she knew this was a fact.

“Wake up! Please wake up girl!” Adam was quietly pleading with Andie as he gave his best efforts in silently shaking her awake.

Often, Andie woke up not realizing she’d even fallen asleep. Her body constantly felt ache and exhaustion. She didn’t have a moment to hesitate before she heard the booming voices demanding attention.

“PROCLAMATION ENFORCEMENT! YOU ARE HEREBY FOUND GUILTY OF VIOLATION OF POLICY 21 OF THE NEW WORLD ORDER. ANYONE WILLING TO COMPLY WILL BE VACCINATED AND GIVEN SHELTER AND NUTRITION. ANY INDIVIDUAL SEEN NOT ADHERING TO REGULATION WILL BE ANNILHILATED.”

“They found us again Adam! Run!” Andie was already standing and pushing Adam deeper into the sewage tunnels.

“What about our things?” Adam was concerned with leaving the food considering there was barely enough in the knapsack to last them one more day.

“Forget about the food idiot! It can be replaced!” Andie was already grabbing Adam by the arm and dragging him into the stench of the not yet explored tunnel. She knew if he dwelled near the knapsack a millisecond more he’d be “annihilated” by the Proclamation Enforcement team while searching for his parents’ pictures.

They charged through the stank water, contaminated with sewage and rabid rats, until Andie spotted a turn that appeared to be well hidden, for she nearly missed it herself.

“Here.” She had managed to jerk Adam with her for what felt like miles while they were forced to listen to the guns firing and the UNVACCINATED screaming and pleading for life. Andie unearthed what should have been known all along. There was no living in this world anymore; there was only surviving one more day.

The UNVACCINATED hideouts were spotted and found at least every week. They continuously had to be on the move, there was no single place the UNVACCINATED could be safe to call home. Electricity and comforts were strictly assigned to people directly involved in politics and members of the NEW WORLD ORDER. With the sun being blocked and the electricity given based upon if you’d sold your soul to government or not, there wasn’t really any light above ground. Underground was extremely atramentous. In the tunnels, there wasn’t use for vision. Even well adapted people couldn’t see an individual object in front of their face. Navigation was solely based upon the sound of the drainage flow and echo of discharging sewage.

They squatted down soundlessly and concentrated as the ringing of gunshots, screams and death disappeared. Adam was squeezing Andie’s hand with a death grip. Still, she allowed him without saying a word. Adam’s terror filled the entire space of corner they were suppressing themselves in. A terror so real Andie could feel it wrapping itself around them like a serpent whispering, “You will die. I’ve found you.”

After an endless amount of time, full of grief and heartache, Andie arose and broke the hold that Adam had on her hand. It was time for them to invent a plan to survive another day. She had to convince him to get past this tragedy and survive with her. She knew he was weaker than her; unstable in this world due to all the love he’d been given during his upbringing, but it was time to be unbreakable. Andie pulled Adam to his feet. He wrapped his arms immediately around her neck. She had only been embraced once in her life and his action caught her off guard. She calmed him while feeling his chest heaving in small, quiet sobs.

What was this other feeling? She swore she heard a snap barely echoed by the tunnel. When she pushed Adam away a bit there was something tugging at her neck. “OH NO! My Necklace.” She thought. She reached up the conceal the locket before he noticed but somehow it was connected to him. As Andie felt for the connection, they both discovered each other had been wearing an unmentioned necklace. Upon further investigation, Andie realized that Adam too had been wearing an oddly shaped locket.

“Where did you get this?” Andie demanded Adam tell her.

“My real mother apparently left it for me as a baby when she gave me to the adoption agency. My foster parents gave it to me on my thirteenth birthday with a note from her. I’ll never forget those words she left me. My foster parents didn’t know what she had meant by the note. I asked them multiple times and the only reply I received was that I shouldn’t worry, but I’ve always felt as it were a clue to who my mother was. Why?” Adam had been honest with her about the locket, but Andie still felt he didn’t want to discuss this further.

“I ask because I have the same locket as you. My mother told me nothing about the locket, but it does have some small metallic engravings inside.” Andie was pushing for more information, determined to find out if this was what her mother meant all along.

“Mine has the metal engravings, too! I thought it was some sort of code when I was younger, but I really have no idea what the markings mean. The note that my parents gave me was odd as well. It said THIS IS THE KEY TO THE PAST, PRESENT, AND FUTURE. KEEP IT CLOSE, THE WHOLE TRUTH WILL FIND YOU.” Adam was still holding his locket staring at the object in his hand as if he could observe it in the darkness.

Andie started crying. This was the first time Adam had ever witnessed Andie cry. He was concerned and shocked at the same time. Unsure what to do other than give her a hug, he stepped closer and took her locket and connected it with his to show her that he was concerned for her.

“Those were my mother’s last” before she could finish there was a glimpse of light coming from the locket.

Her mother’s voice started coming from the locket. “THE WHOLE TRUTH WILL NOW BE REVEALED TO YOU, MY CHILDREN. ANDIE ROSE AND ADAM GLENN, I AM YOUR MOTHER. IN 2021, I GAVE BIRTH TO TWO MIRACLES. I WORKED FOR THE SECRET SERVICE UNDER PRESIDENT JOE BIDEN. I WAS A SECRETARY OF THE SECRETS IN THE UNITED STATES GOVERNMENT. I WAS ALSO PREGNANT WITH TWINS, YOU TWO. I KNEW I COULD NOT KEEP BOTH OF YOU ALIVE AND PROTECTED. I HAD TO CHOOSE THE CHILD DESTINED TO BE WEAK AND MAKE HER STRONG IN HOPES THAT SOMEDAY YOU COULD REJUVINATE THE WORLD. THE NEW WORLD ORDER WAS PLANNED TO COME INTO POWER. EVERYTHING HAS HAPPENED AS PLANNED SINCE 2021. CORONAVIRUS WAS LEAKED AND THAT WAS THE FIRST STEP IN CONTROLLING ALL OF MANKIND. FREEDOMS WERE EXTINGUISHED; FOOLS WERE CHIPPED WHEN VACCINATED WITH PROMISES OF FREEDOMS THAT WILL NEVER BE. THIS LOCKET IS A CODE TO DESTROY THE ENTIRE NEW WORLD ORDER. RESTORE EARTH TO WHAT IT NEEDS TO BE.”

It was obvious to them that the world had ended a long time ago. Their new mission was to put out the flames of this government and establish a new world from all the broken pieces left behind.
