Corralled

It’s barbaric

I’m a photographer and my new assignment is at the Worley Annual Fashion Show.

It’s an exciting gig for a wannabe socialite like me.

I start the morning interviewing the contestants and shooting the girls as they get ready. Hair, make-up, practicing their catwalk, dressing in stunning outfits. You name it and I’m there to record it.

Then the show begins and it hits me as barbaric to be honest. These beautiful women are carolled onto the stage like cattle into a pen.

As the day plays forth, I realise this analysis is more apt than I first realised.

This drabble has been written as part of the daily Drabble Drop challenge and today's random word, that must be included in the drabble, is 'cattle'.

Wikipedia defines a drabble as follows :

A drabble is a short work of fiction of precisely one hundred words in length. The purpose of the drabble is brevity, testing the author's ability to express interesting and meaningful ideas in a confined space.

About the Creator

Colleen Millsteed

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.

Omgggg, I never thought of it that way! That's so true. Also, again I'm so amazed how cattle inspired this story! Loved it!

  • This is good! They shouldn’t be corralled!
