A Child’s Play fan fiction story

By Joe PattersonPublished about 6 hours ago • 3 min read

Ten year old Marcus is out shopping for birthday gift at the newly opened KB Kids toy store with his mother Mary when he comes across a Good Guy Doll. “Wow!” Marcus begins in excitement. “Mom look. It’s one of the classic good guy dolls.” “Marcus you’ve never been into dolls.” Mary began. “Action figures have always been your thing.” “Ma, they still are, but I’ve been hearing everyone at school and on tik tok talk about how cool good guys were back in your time…a long long time ago.”

“Hold up a minute, soon to be last birthday ever boy. It wasn’t that long ago.” Mary replied sarcastically. “But mom they came out in the 80’s and you said you were born in 1989.” Marcus reminded her. “Yeah, but that’s the late 80’s son. It wasn’t the bulk of the decade like when the good guy dolls first came out. I was around to see when they stopped making them for awhile in the 90s though.” “Why did they stop making them mom?” Marcus asked.

“Well, I probably shouldn’t tell you because it might give you nightmares, but there was a string of murders involving the good guy dolls, so they kinda caught a bad rap for Play Pal Toys who invented them. Eventually they started bringing them back to capitalize off the whole…hi I’m Chucky thing.” “Oh so that’s where that comes from.” Marcus realized.

“So do you still want one?” Mary asked. “Definitely, ma.” Marcus replied. “The history makes them sound cool.” “Alright then, let’s go, kiddo.” Mary and Marcus head to the register to pay for the Good Guy doll and leave the store to make their way home. On the way out of the store Mary spots a man in a suit watching them from a cross the way. Mary noticed the man was dressed like a professional hit man from a crime drama, but quickly brushed off his presence as she and Marcus hopped in the car and made their way home.

When they get in the door Marcus immediately goes to the living room and ole s the big box containing the Good Guy doll. “Wow. A real Good Guy.” Marcus examined. While Mary was in the kitchen getting dinner ready Marcus started fiddling with his doll and pressed the buttons on his chest. “Hi, I’m Chucky. Wanna play?” The doll asked in a high pitched, child like voice. “Wow, this is so cool.” Marcus expressed gleefully. “I wanna play a game and it’s called…hide the soul.” The Good Guy doll said as its voice switched from that of a child to a menacing adult male.

The doll then fully came to life and stood eye level with kneeling Marcus as Mary came out of the kitchen and was frozen at the site of the living doll. “What the…?” “Hi fam.” The doll snickered.” “I’m Charles Lee Ray, but my friends call me Chucky.” “Oh my God, mom. Your story was true.” “It really is you.” Mary said shaken. “Chucky…the killer doll.” “That’s right, mama bear.” Chucky joked. “Now it’s time to have some fun.” Marcus then leaned back and kicked Chucky in the chest. Chucky fell back and pulled a knife from small of his back and threw it at Marcus but the knife missed as a frightened Mary pulled Marcus out of the way.

“Aaahhh.” Mary screamed as the knife went into her leg. “MOM!” Marcus yelled as Mary fell to the floor and pulled the knife out of her, throwing it back to Chucky who caught it with relative ease. “Nice try, family.” Chucky gloated “But now it’s time to show you why they say we’ll be friends to the end.” As Chucky started walking toward Marcus and Mary. The front door suddenly busted open and in came the man in the suit that Mary saw outside KB Toys earlier. This time he was wielding a 12 gauge shotgun pointed directly at Chucky. “This is the end…friend.” The man said. “FUCK YOU, ANDY.” Chucky screamed in frustration. Andy then pulled trigger and blew Chucky’s head to pieces, killing him instantly.

Marcus and Mary sat holding each other in both awe and relief. “Oh my goodness. You saved us.” Mary cried as Marcus helped her to her feet. “You’re….you’re Andy Barclay aren’t you?” Mary asked. “Yes.” Andy replied. “So the stories are true?” Mary continued. “Yeah they are.” Andy replied. “But luckily there’s me and a couple others who love hunting Chucky dolls. He’s able to transfer his soul from doll to doll. It’s my job to destroy everyone one of them until Chucky is gone for good. Guess you could say it’s my life’s mission.”

“Thank you, Andy.” Marcus said while shaking Andy’s hand. “It’s no problem, kid. Just consider me a friend.” Andy concluded as Mary and Marcus gratefully watched him depart.
