Choose your own path: A Visit To Fred's House

Scenario: Your friend from your computer chip job, Fred, invited you over to have dinner with his family. You decide it would be a good opportunity to connect with his wife and two children.

Before dinner starts, everyone takes their respective seats at the table except the children. Fred has two young boys that love playing with toy trucks and dinosaurs.

You take a seat at the table but find yourself slightly yelping as you notice a hard crunch under your foot. As you look down the inspect the object under your foot, you notice a small toy dinosaur in pieces on the group.

Being a curious guest, you decide to pick up the broken pieces...including a small piece of paper that might be mistaken as a fortune cookie slip.

You read the small note that only has the words "Help us please. Save us from them" scribbled in red crayon.

Fred and his wife have not taken notice of you reading the small slip and you tuck it into your pocket.

What do you do?

Voters had these three choices

1. Try to use your phone but notice there is no signal...

2. Sit quietly for a moment but then begin to hear a serious scuffle upstairs...

3. Notify Fred and his wife that you found a strange piece of paper...

Winning Answer: Attempt to use your phone...

Part 2:

While contemplating what you should do about the strange slip of paper, you decide to pull out your cell phone and possibly call some type of police enforcement.

After a few seconds of flipping through your smartphone and attempting to call, you notice...there is no signal. For some reason, you expensive phone is not able to use cellular service or the internet.

After a few moments of contemplation, you decide to ask Fred to use the restroom. He gleefully takes you down the hallway on the first floor to a small guest restroom. Once inside, you try your phone again to no avail.

Stuck on the commode with no way to contact anyone outside, you think "now would be a good time to leave this place...then I can go get some help to investigate..."

Suddenly, you hear a rhythmic, hard slam continuously above you. With each strike, someone young let out an agonizing and painful whimper.

You look at the window, a path for escape but the sad whimpers coming from above make you start to sweat.

What do you do?

Voters had these choices...

1. Attempt to escape through the bathroom window but you encounter...

2. Rush out of the bathroom and upstairs to find the origin of the sound...

3. Decide to interrogate Fred and the wife while keeping your camera phone hidden...

Part 3:

After hearing the strange noises from above, you decide to try and escape through the bathroom window. No cell phone signal and your guests waiting outside the bathroom, you have no choice but to find help.

You open the window but are surprised to find bars covering the window sill. You begin to panic. Just as you feel things could not be worse, you hear a knock on the door.

Dinner is ready.

You decide to clean up and go to the dining room where Fred and his wife await. After sitting down at the table, you are mostly silent, trying to hear for any other sounds of distress. Something isn't right here and...

"Would you like a piece of turkey?" Fred's wife asks with a smile on her face. Just as you are about to reply, a loud crash can be heard as the vibration from the shock rattles the entire downstairs. Fred and his wife dash away, promising to only be a moment.

What do you do?

The voters choices were as follows:

1. Take this chance to run outside but once outside, you encounter...

2. Sit quietly as to not draw suspicion to your situation...

3. Chase after Fred and his wife to find the source of the noise...

Conclusion:

Winning answer: Take this chance to run outside, but once outside, you encounter...

After hearing the strange noises and having failed cellular service, you decide you must escape. With Fred and his wife away from the dinner table, you can't help but take this an an opportunity to get reinforcements in this situation.

You decide to run, leaving the food and hospitality behind. Once you reach the front door, you quickly turn the knob and prepare for a sprint.

"Hey buddy! Where are you going?" Fred says as you turn to see him holding a ripped child's t-shirt in his hand. Fred has a large smile on his face while holding the mangled object. Without saying a word, you begin a dash out the door but to your surprise, Fred dashes after you, insuring a chase.

Running to the street, you quickly jump into your car. You hear fast approaching footsteps and a subsequently hard knock on your car window. Not looking forward and focusing on getting the keys into the ignition, you try to start the car. Only the sound of a failed engine can be heard. You jump from the car and raise your fist in the air, readying a way to defend yourself.

"Hey Bud, let me explain..." You don't allow Fred the chance to speak and swiftly bring your fist to his head, knocking him off his feet and straight to the ground. Fred's wife, seeing the situation, runs out of the house sobbing, however, she is followed by a small dog with its fur ruffled.

"Oh! Stop! We needed to get out dog upstairs! Why are you doing this?!"

You freeze, seeing the blood run from Fred's head. Suddenly, everything turns silent to you and the only audible sound is the thumping of your heart.
