Waving in the current, Hermaid rested as he could feel the time was nearly upon him. Knowing that he was in distress, Neptina wrapped her tail around his, nuzzling snouts, comforting him.
Clicking their mouths, he calmed down just as the contractions set in. Resting her head underneath his chin, she supported him as he expelled hundreds, if not thousands of offspring into the open waters.
Tired from his ordeal, but no rest for the weary, she put her ovipositor in his pouch.
"Will they survive, Neptina?"
Her chameleon-like eyes shifted towards his.
"If we make enough, hopefully some will."

Aw, it's always sad to me how so many of them get eaten 🥺 Great job, I love seahorses ❤️
Oh. I hope they all survive, but we know only a small few will. Great story.
Oh, wow! This is really cool! I love that you told the seahorses’ story of males giving birth. Very creative inventing the name “Hermaid”. I love it!
