Call of the land

Three siblings Zed, Yuki, and Hachi stand along side the waters edge in sorrow, watching as the boat carrying Leona (their little sisters) as it begins to fade off into the skyline.

How could she do that to them, just leave them here and go? If only I was faster, I could have made it in time, Hachi thought. Not a moment passing yuki proclaiming you cannot blame yourself Hatchi, we only just found out about everything. As he heard this he looks down quietly saying, Don’t you think I know that Yuki? I have been so absorbed in the placement race the whole time she needed me I put ignored it. Hatchi still flustered yells at Zed. How can you be so quiet looking out to the ship Zed? As Zed stood there pondering all the ways he knew to get to her he snaps back at Hatchi. Leona is my twin, I am trying to figure out how to get her before it is to late… I can sense she is terrified. Leona would do anything to save our people, I should be at her side! Zed spoke with confidence as he looked up to the sky.

Standing there silently they cannot help but to feel the urge to join her correcting the wrongs done all those years ago… After the worlds ice melted, the continents became divided. Large mountain range act like cliffs guarding the land below from life undersea. Most if not all flat land has been underwater for centuries. Yet throughout this time we all remained hopeful that soon the lands will be returned. Tales passed down through the generations spoke of the ones that will be born with the birthmark of love. Those marked are the only ones who have a chance to fix what has been done. This birthmark resembles a necklace of a heart shaped locket, for Leona it happens to be around her neck. Only the one with this birthmark can withstand and stop what caused the great divide. Leona is their sister and the bearer of this mark of great responsibility.

Off in the distance on a ship in the ocean Leona and her companion begin to talk. Hey Leona, Wylie states, it is time we started training there is much to prepare for. As she stood in the boat looking back to the shore, in the distance three figures appear quickly. Noticing hands waving sporadically and one falling to the ground tears begin to well up in her eyes, as she knows it is her siblings. Feelings of guilt and remorse overwhelming her, Wylie approaches gently placing his hand upon her shoulder. He begins to speak softly, it will all be best for the future, you do this for them, be strong!

Leona looks to him, we could have told them, at least Zed! You know the bond we share, to be away from him like this feels wrong. I know my destiny is to fulfill the prophecy… but… nothing says I should do it alone! She looks back to her siblings once more standing at the shore before training. As she turned to towards the cabin she smiled hearing faintly in the distance the voice of her brothers Zed… Zed looks back out to the ocean yelling, Leona!!! I will follow you till the end!!!

As he spoke the last word, the ship disappeared. Hachi falls to his knees and begins slamming his hands into the rocky sand below. Why… Why, did she go off alone? Yuki began to cry, she has always been so strong. My little sister whom I wanted to protect, may the guidance of the sages protect you! With the sun setting they set off to the village. The desolation around them overwhelms the reality that something had to be done. Trees are scarce in the high elevations of these mountains, if water rises any more this home will too be lost.

Approaching the village Zed remembers the sage’s stories of the marked. Do you recall the tale of the last chosen? He asked them, yes in ways but that old sage is hard to understand. All those riddles get my head spinning, Yuki says. Some sort of winged man soaring above land and sea. Yes! I must find out more from the sages what this means, proclaimed Zed.

As they returned everyone from the village is waiting for them. They are greeted with condolences, love and well wishes for their sister safe journey. Where are the sages, Hachi asks one of the villagers. The sages are up at the monastery waiting your arrival. They said you would be requesting A presence with them. As the three of them look at one another they nod and begin ascending to meet the sages. Normally we would not be allowed here until we were older. Circumstances must have changed for them to summon us, spoke Zed.

The journey to the monastery is treacherous. It holds all the secrets of the lands since before the great divide. Sharp turns and narrow pathways make it difficult to make the trip to the top. At the peak you can see the old fashion building still standing there after all of these years. It said that this was built by monks in the years of many gods. Some believe they predicted this event would happen and did all they could to protect the future.

Upon reaching the peak, Yuki, Zed & Hachi look to see all the sages standing waiting uptop. Aged and wrapped in colorful robes with their long white hair, they stood. The eldest is holding something in his hands, it is like nothing they have ever seen. Confused they all pondering what truths lie ahead, and how to help get them to Leona quickly.

Come now, haste must be made for the time is upon us all! We must prepare you all sooner then expected to face what your sister Leona has set out to do on her own. She faces great peril on her journey to save us all, she must not be alone. We never should have waited this long to prepare you for this fate bestowed upon her. As the eldest sage points to the door, all sages begin to enter. Go you three, there is much to learn. Heading into the monastery a feeling of purpose and strength give us hope we will be able to find her. When the doors began to close, we knew at long last it was finally time to learn the great truth of the mark and the past... Oh how we long to rejoin Leona and fix the past!

Inside the monastery the entrance is very open. A huge statue straight ahead of a big smiling man all cover in moss. One of the many gods of the people of the lost lands. We are lead down a small corridor to another room with a stone staircase leading down onto the mountain caverns. As they reached the bottom and see three paths forward. Fumbling to light the torches the old sage say, ah ok time to follow me you three this way. He points while walking towards the path on the right. Don’t you stray off, he turns to say, that path here should not ever be traveled. Then turns again and continues down the path on the right. Yuki looks down the path curious to why we should not go down it than quickly scampering to catch back up.

The three siblings and sage enter into a small room with a large box with a door. The old man dust off this panel mumbling to himself. ok.. ok where is it… ah ha there it is, as he pushed in this button and the box began to glow and move with such strange sounds! Yuki my dear would you come over here, your training must begin. The sage begins to tell us about the glowing box. This is what they call a simulator for flying, you all must be ready to learn. Yuki will be the pilot for you have the mental stamina to handle this obstacle. Hatchi and Zed you too must learn but for now you must train elsewhere. This was dear, the old sage opens the door to the simulator. In you go Yuki, there is a seat inside go there and learn to fly! I will be helping just outside here do not fear. Closing the door she hears the simulation start. Welcome to Navi flight system please place on the biometric head gear to begin operational training.

Now you two, I have other training for you follow me back this way. Walking back down the path we pass the staircase and head towards the furthest Path. It whines around like a large semi-circle until we reach another room. In this room is a lot of weaponry, must have been a training ground of sorts during the days of the sun. Inside that room is another smaller room surrounded in books.

Zed being the bookworm he is walk straight into the room. The old sage follows, in here are the stores and truths of the world and what happened. It’s important you read these with care as they also speak of the mark and how to help your sister but they are quite old. Zed looks to Hachi and with much relief they know they finally have what it takes to get to Leona!
