Oh no, the destruction of the laboratory’s reputation is on the line this time!

Sky knew she needed to fix her mistake and fix it quick. Her skin’s beginning to show signs of the rash from that deadly virus she’d accidentally injected herself with.

Two hours and she was going to die if she didn’t figure something out — and quickly!

Petri dish after petri dish lined the workbench, but it’s the last dish causing her face to break out in a huge smile.

That sample shows the virus has been inactivated by pasteurisation.

She is going to survive after all.

I was challenged to write a drabble of the word ‘inactivate'.

Wikipedia defines a drabble as follows :

A drabble is a short work of fiction of precisely one hundred words in length. The purpose of the drabble is brevity, testing the author's ability to express interesting and meaningful ideas in a confined space.

About the Creator

Colleen Millsteed

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
