He stood at the edge of the platform. His weary eyes followed the path of the train as it pulled away.

Sweat poured from his brow. Anxiety nestled deeper into the cavity of his soul.

Pride convinced him that time was plentiful, but his once faithful companion had now abandoned him. He was too late, and his stride was too short.

She was gone.

The occupant settled in Seat 7A.

His Heart. His Sanity. His Hope.

For once, she made good on her word to pursue greener pastures.

Walking to the nearest bench, he took a seat and welcomed defeat.
