Dumont, Sierra, Kevin and Nicole are getting ready for their day trip sailing around the Bermuda Triangle.
“Are you ready, my turistas?” Sierra yelled with joy as she put her bags in the back of Kevin’s jeep. “I know I am.” Dumont began. “I mean, who isn’t ready to go to one of the most suspect and scariest locations of all time for a day.” He concluded sarcastically as he put his bags next to Sierra’s in Kevin’s jeep. “Easy D-money.” Kevin laughed. “Has it really been proven that the Bermuda Triangle is really that bad?” Kevin asked. “You tell em’, baby boo.” Nicole co-signed. “But then again, there is the story of the Bermuda Turista.” Dumont added.
“The what?” Nicole asked as they all piled into Kevin’s jeep and made their way to Sunshine Pier. “Come on, Nicky. You know the legend.” Sierra started. “D-money here hasn’t stopped yapping about it since his professor discussed it in his Urban Myth class at the University. It’s the legend of the Bermuda Turista.” “What’s the legend of the Bermuda Turista?” Nicole asked from behind the driver’s seat.
“Babe, you’ve heard it before.” Kevin began. “It’s that fancy boat that had a group of friends on it that went missing in the Bermuda Triangle back in like 1985-“ “86’ actually, if you’re gonna tell the story right.” Dumont interrupted sarcastically. “Whatever, college boy with a two point nine GPA.” Kevin rebutted. “Oh whatever, it’s still a passing grade.” Dumont continued.
“So anyhow, the Bermuda Turista was a party of people on a fancy love yacht, that used to boldly sail around the Bermuda Triangle throwing wild parties for the time period. You know, drinking, drugs, weird hairdos and gold chains.” The other three chuckled while listening to Dumont’s banter. “Like I was sayin’ before I was rudely interrupted. One night after a big party in the heart of the Bermuda Triangle, the Bermuda Turista was never seen again. There were around 20 to 30 people on that boat that night and they were never heard from again.”
“Wow…really, D?” Kevin uttered in sarcastic disbelief. “Bro I’m dead serious, it’s been a legend around here for decades.” Dumont continued. “Well did anyone have a clue as to what happened?” Nicole asked. “Well, many of the old timers around here who practice voodoo and hoodoo or whatever will tell you stories about the lost spirits at sea.” Kevin began.
“Who are the lost spirits at sea?” Sierra asked as the group arrived at Sunshine Pier and began unloading their belongings on to Dumont’s fancy boat. “The lost spirits at sea are believed to be the many undead souls of people who supposedly died at the Bermuda Triangle’s many unexplained unfortunate events. It’s believed to be that these souls lurk beneath the waters of the triangle area waiting to tear victims to pieces and make them the next urban legends contributing to the dark and mysterious allure of the Bermuda Triangle.” Kevin continued.
“That’s why so many elders like my grandma wear Nazar beads like the one around my neck.” Nicole started. “She said they keep bad spirits away like the ones they believe haunt the Bermuda.” “Well hopefully none of them will find us.” Dumont joked.
“And that’s what everyone believes happened to the guest of Bermuda Turista.” Dumont began as the quartet boarded the nice looking boat. “It’s believed to be that one night on the Bermuda the lost spirits at sea were waiting for the right amount of guest and ripped every soul on that boat to pieces to make an example out of them.” “How can anyone know for sure what actually happened?” Sierra asked. “I mean they were on a boat. Were there any radio transmissions going to shore?” “There were none.” Dumont concluded as he cranked up the boat and the group cheered as they began their voyage.
As the group turned on the music and began talking and laughing, Nicole was suddenly distracted by what sounded like a whisper in the wind. “Nicky…come join us.” Nicole stood up as she heard the faint echo with a look of alarm on her face and looked back with an understanding that her friends had not noticed the whisper. She gradually brushed it off and joined the fun in progress.
The time was now 7:30 p.m. and after a long day on the water the group was ready to call it a day. “Ight gang.” Dumont began. It’s been a long day of drinking, partying, dancing and unfortunately no drugs, plus we survived strolling along the Bermuda Triangle, but now it’s time to pack it up and call it a night.” “Yeah.” Kevin began in agreement. “Let’s call it a night and take it home.” As Dumont began stirring the boat back east a large figure caught the group’s attention in the distance.
“What’s that?” Sierra asked as the group focused on the large figure rowing closer. “It’s a yacht.” Kevin acknowledged. It was a giant tan yacht that was dingy in color, but looked like it had at one time been beautiful. The quartet looked on in amazement as light emanated from the windows of the yacht. Dumont looked to the side of the yacht and saw a ladder that was accessible. “Yo that is creepy.” Kevin acknowledged. “Yeah. Let’s check it out.” Dumont suggested playfully.
“Whoa whoa whoa! I’m not goin’ in there.” Sierra rebuked. “Yeah, we don’t know who or what is in there.” Kelly added. “Come on, honeys. Looks like someone might be lost, let’s check it out real quick.” Kevin suggested. “Kev, no!” Nicole protested. “We don’t know what the hell is in there.” “Look, we’ll just be five minutes and then we’ll be out of there. “Okay…but only five minutes.” Nicole agreed reluctantly as the quartet started slowly climbing the ladder aboard the spacious yacht.
When the group made it on board they made night if the scenery in front of them. The boat looked like something that was once beautiful but had now mellowed in decades old age. “Wow, this looks like one of them d love shacks from movies like Austin Powers.” Dumont acknowledged. “Yeah, it’s groovy.” Nicole added playfully. Kevin surveyed the beautiful area around him and noticed a record player with a record sitting on top of it. He picked it up and noticed that the record was “What Have You Done For Me Lately” by Janet Jackson. “Apparently someone is a Jackson family fan.” Kevin assessed while picking up the record.
“What Have You Done For Me Lately.” Nicole read along. “I should be asking Dumont that.” Sierra joked. “Well whoever owns this love shack has some good taste in music. When did that Janet album come out? my mom loves her.” Sierra inquired. “1986.” Kevin answered. “I’m a bit of a Jackson family historian.” “Wait, are you sure that was 1986?” Nicole asked. “Damn sure, why?” Kevin inquired. “Well isn’t that the year the Bermuda Turista went missing?” Nicole asked.
The group sat in a brief silence. “Yeah, but that’s just a coincidence, let’s check out the captain’s quarters.” Dumont concluded. The group walked to the front of the boat where Something old and rugged caught Kevin and Dumont’s eyes, it was an old timer radio sitting on a brown table. While the guys walked towards the radio, Sierra and Nicole noticed some writing on the wall that was seemingly covered by dirt and rust.
Kevin picked up the radio and started fidgeting as the girls started using their hands to wipe off the dirt that was covering the dirt on the wall. “Hell of an old radio.” Dumont examined. “Yeah I wonder if there are any clear transmissions to make out. After giving the dial a few more ticks he finally heard something:
“Hello? Hello?” A frantic voice called out from “This is the Bermuda Turista, we need help there’s something-ah…ahhhh….” The voice faded out in terror as the transmission ended in static. Kevin and Dumont looked up at each other and came to a startling realization. “This can’t be..,” Kevin started. “No…it couldn’t be…” Dumont added. “Um, guys?” Nicole shrieked as she and Sierra uncovered the writing on the wall that said “Bermuda Turista” in big letters.
“How could that…?” Kevin started as he and Dumont looked on in shock. “You said there were no transmissions from the Bermuda, Dumont.” “I thought there weren’t.” Dumont replied in shock. “There’s no way this transmission should exist.” The quartet looked among each other in terror as they came to the startling realization that the legend of the Bermuda Turista was real and they were standing in its very core. “We have to get off this boat.” Kevin urged as the four of them ran back to the ladder.
As the group neared the edge of the boat a dark phantom like spirit appeared in front of Dumont who was at the head of the group and cut his throat. “OH SHIT!!!” The other three screamed as Dumont fell to his knees holding his throat as he bled profusely. “D! NO!!!” Sierra cried out as she picked up a knife from the table next to her and attempted to stab the phantom in front of her. The phantom quickly caught her arm and made Sierra stab herself in the stomach as she dropped to her knees and gasped as she fell on her back, lying next to her lifeless lover Dumont’s body.
The remaining Nicole and Kevin suddenly found themselves surrounded by an army of undead spirits. They stood close together holding each other’s hands as the spirits closed in on them it suddenly back away in a pained terror when it noticed the Nazar beads on Nicole’s necklace. “What is it?” Kevin asked. “It’s the Nazar beads my grandma gave me.” Nicole replied. “They can’t stand it because it rebukes their spirits. Come on let’s make a run for it.” she urged.
Nicole and Kevin quickly made their way off the yacht as the angered and pained spirits stumbled behind them. Nicole took her necklace off and held it up against them like a shield much to their spirit’s agony as she and Kevin made it back on Dumont’s boat. Kevin cranked the boat up and sped off as the spirits chased him and a terrified Nicole. “Keep holding it up Nicky.” Kevin urged. “We’re almost out of the heart of the triangle. Legend says once we get out of this area the spirits can’t follow us.” As the spirits started closing in Nicole stood up even taller and confronted the spirits. “GO TO HELL YOU WICKED MOTHERFUCKERS!” She yelled with courage as the spirits disappeared howling in the distance.
Kevin and Nicole finally arrived back at Sunshine pier. Kevin parked the boat and he and Nicole embraced with a hug as she wept in tears. “Dumont and Sierra.” Nicole cried. “I know.” Kevin replied sorrowfully. “Kevin, no one will ever believe us.” Nicole asserted. “That there is the real nightmare. May God have mercy on anyone who dare boards the Bermuda Turista.” Kevin concluded.
