Ray's Oh, Jeff Flash Fiction Challenge

Oh, Jeff...I love you, too...but...I can't stay with someone I don't respect.

You've met someone else....

Not at all. It's just that your work doesn't speak to me like Roy's.

So, there's someone else! Wait...who?

Roy...Lickenstein.

Roy...Lichtenstein?

Like I said. He's dreamy.

How can you leave me for him? He's not dreamy, he's dead!

Cretan! Death can never stop true love! We're like Heathcliff and Cathy in Withering Heights.

Wuthering Heights.

Stop repeating everything I say, Jeff! And don't make this harder than it needs to be.

But Babycakes, I thought we had a something real.

Ewww. And Roy never calls me Babycakes.

He never calls you anything. He never calls! Don't sell me short, Baby-err. Just two of my works earned almost $150 million alone!

You make balloon animals, Jeff! You know who makes balloon animals? Clowns!

My balloon animals are made from highly polished stainless steel. They'll last forever. The day after a clown gives little Timmy a balloon animal he'll burst into tears when he sees how it has shriveled.

Timmy can't afford your balloon animals.

Roy sold overpriced cartoons! How is he any better?

But they speak to me. Your balloon animals don't speak.

Wait...they speak to you? Those are speech balloons! I suppose the Mona Lisa doesn't speak to you either.

Pleeease, don't compare yourself to Michaelangelo.

Jesus, Mary and Joseph!

Asshole!

Bitch!

Click.

It's OK now Roy. You can come back in the room. The Cretan hung up.
